My Hotpoint is making a constant clicking noise approximately once per second. click, click, click.....and so on. The fridge is not cooling at all. The only thing that is working is the internal lights. Help please!!!!
Recently had a friend with the same problem. Found that one of the power supplies on the board had a blown capacitor. This allowed the relay on the board to energize but not enough voltage was being sent to hole the relay closed. Basically a blown board was the problem. I found the wiring diagram very informative, it was hidden behind the temprature potentiometers.
It could be a bad relay or start device on the compressor. Pull the fridge out and see if that is where the clicking is coming from. If this unit has a control board the clicking could be coming from one of the relays on the board. In this case the board would need to be replaced. Let me know what you find. If you need more help I will need the entire model # off of the sticker inside the fridge.
