SOURCE: JVM convection microwave

I see. Okay, well then I would expect there's a problem with a high voltage part, such as the diode, magnetron or transformer.

Your model number should be entered as JVM192002 and you can find exploded views here.

You can usually find GE parts for much less here.

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.

Here are some links you or someone you know can use for test help, but read their safety warnings first:

SOURCE: Daewoo WM1010CC convection/ microwave combo unit issues

Likely takes a torx wrench or some other special star tool to open it.

Could be a bad relay a bad mag tube or a bad timmer or a bad door switch. Needs to be trouble shooted. You have to get it open and check the fuses and test the voltage on the pri transformer first.

SOURCE: GE #JE1590BC01 will convection & combination, but not microwave

With the symptoms you have, I would most strongly suspect a shorted high voltage rectifier diode or a bad magnetron.

The diode is a fairly cheap fix, and the mag will cost more.

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical safety information and disassembly information at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

Here are some links you or someone you know can use for test help, but read their safety warnings first:

http://www.gallawa.com/microtech/diode.html
(if it's not shorted or burned, it's probably okay)

http://www.gallawa.com/microtech/mag_test.html

Accessing some components for testing will require you to remove the oven from the wall.

If so, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward.

You can download GE owner's manuals and installation instructions here.

The owner's manual will also tell you how long your magnetron warranty is - it's usually 5 to 9 years.

SOURCE: My convection microwave will not heat up in

usually if convection fails means there is problem in magnetron you hear an unusual buzzing noise, the magnetron (the component that actually generates the microwaves) or other electronic module may be broken. This is not easily fixed; contact a service technician.

Advantum GE 120 microwave/convection oven is smoking when I try to preheat the convection part. It's 2006 model w/the house we bought in 2 mos ago. Prior owner never used that part.

When convection mode is used heater inside gets heated and as you say that the previous owner never used this mode, when ever the heater used for the first time it may produce smoke as the coating over it heats up giving smoke,no need to worry use it regularly it will work perfectly

Amana OTR Convection Microwave runs 59 seconds and shuts off

This sounds like either a thermistor or a damper switch/motor problem.
Amana's technical support line is 866-426-2621. This is the commercial side but they should be able to get you in touch with the domestic side.

The microwave works for only 8-9 seconds, then stops

It may be in demo mode.  On some units if you hit the timer/clock button 4 times to turn demo off.

Clicking sound sporadically

That particular skillet is just too heavy a load for the turntable system to handle.

I would suggest a lighter skillet or a different container, otherwise, the motor or shaft or both will be damaged.

It is of course perfectly okay to put metal in a microwave (after all, that's what they're made of!) but you just have to do it only according to the instructions in the owner's manual.

And as you know, metal in convection mode poses no problem at all.

You just need to use a lighter or different container.

Our sharp 957 will now only microwave for 59 seconds then stops and rattles for thirty seconds. The convection option stopped working ages ago. Any ideas please?

This is a problem in one of the damper-related components, most likely the switch, but it may also be the motor or the damper door.

This is also likely why your convection mode stopped working.

The damper is a door inside that opens or closes depending on cooking mode. If the controller senses that the door is not in the right position, it will shut down the cook cycle.

Sharp models stop after 59 seconds.

See the attached sample photo for a typical damper assembly.

Info on ordering Sharp UK parts / spares is here.
