How to reset nokia e71

Warning

Please back up all the data on your Nokia E71 and the memory card before resetting the phone (if you do not know how to back up your personal data on the Nokia E71 give me a shout). There are lots of caseswhere users have reset their phone and realized later that they have lost all their personal data.
How to do a hard reset of Nokia E71

  • Switch on the phone
  • While the phone is the standby mode enter this code *#7370#
  • The phone would ask for a password, the default password is 12345 unless you have changed it before.
  • That is it you are done

But I do not want to loose my personal data

You might want to restore the factory settings of the Nokia E71 but you might not want to loose the personal data on the phone. This can be done by doing a 'soft reset'.

Warning
Do not do a soft reset without backing up data on your phone and the memory card as backing your phone data is a good practice even if you are doing a 'soft reset'

To do a 'soft reset'

  • Switch on the phone
  • When the phone on the standby mode enter the code *#7780#
  • The factory settings would be restored and there will be no data loss.
  • Voila

Alternative method for hard reset of Nokia E71

There is alternate method to do a hard reset is prescribed as well. The steps involve

  • Switching off your phone
  • Press the *, 3 and the green key on the phone while starting the phone (do not ask me how, because when I tried I could not do it! and if you are successful then you should apply for a prize from Nokia)
  • The phone will ask for a password which by default is 12345 if you have not changed it in the past.

I would like to remind readers again to backup their personal data from the phone and the memory card before trying to do a reset of their Nokia E71.

I have forgoten my security code for my nokia e71. And i want to restore to fatory settings. the imei no. is 352925021952314

Hello
You can try to do a hard reset to restore it back to factory settings. All your contacts, messages, calls, applications, themes > everything will be gone. So BEWARE. Backup your important stuff first. Your memory card will be fine, so anything there will be saved. However, if you have applications installed on the memory card, I recommend deleted those as well.
I always tell people to install applications and themes on the phone memory always! Your phone will run faster, as will the applications. Leave the memory card for your media.
Anyways, to perform a hard reset on the Nokia E71 you do this...

Type *#7370# from the standby screen while your phone is on. It will ask for the lock code which is 12345 unless you have previously changed it. Make sure you do this right, because if you do it too many times the wrong way you can lock up your phone.
And that's it. Have fun re-installing all of your applications and themes. Hopefully this helps you out if your having problems, or if you just want to clean out your phone.
Hope this helps.

I can't put my nokia 6300 into restore factory settings mode..

The defaulkt security code for Nokia is 12345. You can reset the security code using : *#7328748263373738#. It works on most nokia phones. Worth giving a try.

And if the phone says simcard rejected, then the most common problem is that the phone probably might have been locked. You can get it unlocked for 5 quids in your local market.
