Check the 24 Hz setting in the BD/Blu-ray setting area. Some televisions do not support this option. Turn it off. It will prevent blu-ray movies from playing. ANSWER WAS FOUND!!!!!

Re: blue rays not playing and screen says no signal
This is blue ray lens failure. this opticalAssembly has two separate reading lenses. there is one designated for Cd audio and CD_ROM reading and, the other is blue ray compatible. the blue ray lens in inoperable at this point. you will need to replace this lens assembly.

I've been told that Blue Ray movies don't work on PS3 unless you use an HDMI cable; but I haven't tested that. Also, some Blue-ray on PS3 load as movies, some load as games depending on the content. So check the automatic play feature, see if you can select the BD from the video
section. On your Xross media bar, go to videos and see if there is a blue disc
(BD-rom), click X.
Also make sure that the movie is actually blue-ray. Some old HD movies are sold off on eBay, etc as Blue ray when they aren't. Check it on Blueray.com, if the movie isn't listed it may be HD only.
your dvd disc region (must be region free or 1 - for USA)
playing blue-ray MOVIES disc, to check a possible problem with your reader .
if the blue ray movie doesn't work, you have got a possible problem with your blue ray dvd reader . then, take it to an assistance center for hardware repair ..
Something is wrong with the circuit bord in the ps3 i would send it back. That is what I did, the same thing happened to me. It is not the tv, they tried telling me it was. But they sent me a new one.
Jeremy...
Are you sure the tv is 1080p capable? Usually when "mode is not supported" is displayed, it means that the tv can not handle the signal format that is being input to it. If you are using HDMI, then signal formatting is usually handled automatically. If you are using component video, you will probably have to tell the PS3 to step down the signal to either 1080i or 720p.
Green bar or border is due to wrong AV Setting. To resolve this just insert the Blue-Ray DVD and begin to play. Press the Triangle button and select "AV Setting", in AV Setting change Video Output to RGB.
same problem.. i always get the screen: "not supported mode". whatever the hell that means. so the issue is definately with the tv and not the playstation. has anyone tried contacting Samsung?
