Estate whirlpool electric dryer model teds840pq0 only heating to about 140 degrees with new heating element and auto sensing timer not advancing to shut off

My dryer stopped heating and the timer quit moving on the auto sensor setting only. I completed all the continuity checks and found that the element was out, so I replaced it today. However, the timer is still not advancing in the auto sensor setting. It moves just fine in the timed setting. I have removed the vent hose and placed a leg of nylon over it to let it vent into the house to see if that made a difference, which it did not, so it does not seem to be an airflow problem. The temperature of the exhaust coming off the dryer is only getting up to about 140 degrees on the high temp setting and after monitoring the heating element, it is not shutting shutting off intermittently as it should be if the dryer was getting up to the proper temp. Why would the dryer not be getting up to proper temp with a new element, and is that why the auto timer is not advancing or is the timer bad? The timer being bad should not effect how hot the dryer gets is that correct? Looking for a little help to get this thing running properly

The high limit sensor might be bad, not allowing it to get to a hotter temp.

The drum on my dryer will turn when I set the timer to any setting, but the timer does not work, nor does it heat up. Any suggestions?

See if the timer advances in the timed dry or the auto dry cycles. If the timer advances in timed dry but not in auto dry, then you could have a wire connection failure in the orange wire from the heating element to the timer.

If the timer will not advance in either type of cycle, then I recommend checking the timer part number that you are using.

I have a Whirlpool Estate dryer Model TGDS840PQ0. During auto sense, the timer will not move. But during a "time dry" session, the timer seemse to work just fine. Any ideas?

in auto the timer will not move if there is no heat, when the heat stops the timer moves, heat comes on timer doesn't move, when it's on auto make sure power is going down to the heating system, next time send model number and if it's gas or electric, good luck

Dryer lost heat according to different cycles

the model number you have is for a gas dryer if this is an electric dryer then you can access the heating element by removing the back cover this has a small element you can remove it by taking the 1/4 inch screws from the sides of the element there could be two screws or just one remove the screws and pull the element out you con then visually inspect it but the best way is to ohm it out with a meter but your problem sounds more like a timer

Dryer will not shut off or heat up

The problems are related. The timer advances when the thermostats sense that heat is being applied to the air in the dryer. With no heat, the sensors do not allow the time to advance.

You did not mention... Is your dryer gas or electric? If Electric, the most likely culprit is a burned out heating element or a faulty internal heat-sensing thermostat. Burned wires or a defective motor switch are less common factors.

If it's a gas dryer, suspect the glow sensor (could be something as simple as lint covering it), temperature control thermostats, or the heater switch on the motor.

Element heats, dryer tumbles, no heat in drum, never shuts off

Hi, If the dryer heats but will not advance in either time or auto cycles, you need to change the timer.
You can test to see if the timer is getting voltage. Remove the top rear panel and locate the two wires going to the timer motor. There should be 120V when the dryer is running in time dry.
Please let me know if this helps or if I can assist you further.

Thanks
Vic
