Electric smoker won't heat up

From what I've found this smoker appears to be the same as ones sold by Masterbuilt and Cajun Injector, it has an electronic display for setting cooking time and temperature. It suddenly stopped working because the heating element is not supplying any heat. The control panel light comes on when you push the on button but the light that indicates heating does not come on when turning up the temperature. I have checked with a meter and I have power (120 volt) into the circuit board and power going out to the heating element. One lead goes directly to the heating element (120 volt, 650 watts) and the other lead goes to a thermostat and then to the other terminal of the heating element. I have checked the voltage from both terminals of the heating element to the ground and they both show 120V. I have checked the continuity and ohms through the heating element and they show 21 ohms which I believe is correct, so I don't understand why the element isn't heating. Most of the problems I've seen for these units involved corroded or burnt wires where they connect to the heating element. I'm wondering if it could be a switch that turns the power to the element on and off to maintain the set temperature but I don't know how to check that or repair it. I would really like to fix this but I can't even find replacement parts. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If all else fails I'm thinking of retrofitting it with a universal heating element with a dial temperature control and that plugs directly into a 120 volt outlet. It is larger (1500 watt) but i think it would work as long as I kept it on a lower setting.

Cajun injector electric smoker stopped working

Check for power at your outlet; a tripped GFI or a tripped breaker in your panel box may be the cause if the outlet is dead. If the outlet is good then you know it is the electric smoker.

Thermostat is stuck on 387 degrees. How can I fix it?

I had the same problem. Readout showed 330 degrees, but it should have been 60. Saw all the bad reviews on this product after I started to research this problem, so I figured I would try to fix it. I drilled all the rivots out of the back panel. There are 2 thermocouples, 1 for the meat probe and 1 for measuring the temp inside the smoker. Both thermocouples have connectors in about the center of the smoker. I cut the wire on both sides of this thermocouple and spliced them together without the connector. Works fine now.

My smoker won't heat over 100 degrees, what part do I need to replace

Throw it away and buy a new one made by a different company. I just tried to call Masterbuilt and after a 45 minute wait got an overseas call center with a person who could barely speak English and I couldn't understand. I will not do business whit a company that does not think better about their customers than this.

While using my Masterbuilt smoker (Model 20070106) the temperature began to gradually decrease and now it will not heat at all. I'm sure the heating element needs to be replaced but I am having...

SgtDave - Don't feel like the Lone Ranger. There have been a bunch of people seeking either the burner element and/or the electronic controls. The burner element is available form Appliance Factory Parts, but only with the smoker box. At one time is was sold separately, but now, the element by itself is no longer available. Even Masterbuilt no longer sells just the heating element. In part, if you check your Owner's Manual or the Manufacturer's Data Plate on the smoker, take note of the Country of Origin, you'll understand why.

Wish I could have been of more help to you.
