Is this unit set up for natural gas or propane? New stoves usually come with ORIFACES for both gasses. They would install between the on/off knob and the burner tube under the stove top. They may be tapped to the under burner area of your stove. If you lift your top stove cover you may find them. If you don't find them, you may need to purchase the correct applications for your stove. GOOD LUCK FRIEND.
you stove may have jets for natural gas rather than bottled gas
the calorific value of natural gas is different to propane and the jets are larger because of this.
if using bottled gas then you will get yellow flame and soot because there is too much gas to burn properly
check your installation manual for procedure to change the jets for each gas
You must have an improper air/gas ratio. To adjust the shutters you simply open or close them a hair till you get a beautiful blue flame. Improper flame is yellow, good flame is blue. This gas conversion training manual shows where to adjust
Hello dishmama1, is this a sealed burner cooktop? If so then remove the cap and make sure all the holes are clean. Restricted burner holes can cause and issue with the flame. Also with it off make sure the area where it sits is clean and the cap sits flat. Hope this helps
Hello
The soot stains come from the air mixture, that will show too much yellow flame tips, just adjust the air intake, too have an idea how much to adjust it, and also it wouldn't hurt to clean the flames holes by sticking a pin. Alos make sure you have the right fittings converters. It's the grill LP Gas or Natural?
Hope this help

Hello
Tha sounds to me like the air mixture nedds to be adjusted on the stove, It's not difficult to do, just rotate it until the flames loose the yellow or your pans will be stained with soot.
The should be by the fittings (convertion fittings), you know?
LP Gas to Natural Gas or Natural Gas to LP Gas.
Hope this help
