Denon Receiver AVR 1602 not playing Dolby Digital w/ Samsung BD

I just bought a Samsung BD P3600 and connected it to my Denon AVR 1602. At first my Dolby Digital wouldn't kick in at all even when watching TV but I pushed a button ( can't remember which one?) and all was fixed when watching tv. But when I watch a BD movie on my samsung player the Dolby Digital never kicks in, it always plays it in Pro Logic. I have pushed buttons but am not sure what I am doing or what the problem is.  Any input would be greatly appreciated  Thanks!!

Dolby signals are passed via either an RF cable or optical link. Both the receiver and player need to have these switched on and that they are passing the correct signals. You clearly found the correct setting for the TV sound link. Now you just have to find the one for the DVD player.

How do I set my receiver to read TV/CBL Dolby Digital. It is a AVR 789

The Dolby digital signal is outputted only through the Optical or Coaxial socket of the CBL box. you will have to get an optic fiber or coaxial cable depending which cable box you have and connect it to the digital input of the Denon receiver. The Denon's digital input are already assigned at the back. Eg: Optic input might be labeled CD so if you are connecting the CBL box to the optic input remember to select CD on the Denon to hear the cable sound, same goes with the coaxial input.

The receiver is connected via an Optical audio cable to my Bell ExpressVu HD receiver, When watching HD programming the Dolby Digital breaks up, I then have to switch to "virtual" setting to get sound. I...

my rule is to always install an analog connection to any device along with a digital connection as a "backup", if you will. set the input on the receiver to auto and the rest is like magic with functional equipment. sometimes digital signals do flutter and become intermittent. the receiver will then switch to analog to keep the game goin.

Play phono - vinyl records

You need to purchase a phono preamp (about $20) and then the output of the preamp can be connected to any line level input on the receiver (tape, CD, DVD etc.)

Denon AVR-688 Dolby Digital issues

IT IS ALWAYS BEST TO CONNECT ANALOG AUDIO IN ADDITION TO THE OPTICAL, COAXIAL OR HDMI AUDIO CONNECTION. IF USING OPTICAL OR COAXIAL CONNECTIONS BE SURE TO CONFIGURE IT IN THE RECEIVERS DIGITAL ASSIGNMENT AREA IN SETUP.
ALSO, ON THE FRONT OF THE RECEIVER IS AN INPUT MODE BUTTON, PRESS THIS BUTTON UNTIL AUTO IS DISPLAYED

No dolby digitaL ON BLU-RAY FIMLS played thro a ps3,

prologic is a form of dolby digital, the 4.0 or 5.1 (versions I and II respectively) to be exact. the type of dolby version is determined by the source disk. the reciever may expand a dolby digital signal into 7.1 but it is actually a 5.1 standard, as is prologicII

No sound from optical or coax digital inputs

You have to use the system setting using the remote and turn on the inputs you want to use. Hope this helps.

Digital audio cuts out.

Hi,
I have same DD 5.1 tiny "bursts" problem with satellite HD channel. It is probably problem with Crystal DSP (German site): http://forum.digitalfernsehen.de/forum/showthread.php?t=89328&page=3
"Denon bietet Lösung für EX-Flag-Problem bei den Modellen AVR-1602 und AVR-1802 an

07.08.2002(cr)

Best Way ti connect a Denon AVR-1602 Surround Sound system with a Bell Express View Satlite reciever and Plasma TV

lets see, 3100 has no digital out, so you need analog inputs for the audio. Best picture with the 3100, use S-video. Digital input for the DVD sound and S-video in for picture. OOPS....does your TV have a S-Video input ?. If not then you have to use the RCA standard video type connector, as this particular denon doesnt do up or down conversion to or from S-video to old style RCA.

Sorry for the late response.....Rob

PS.....the HD bell wont do you any good with this receiver nbecause it doesnt have component video inputs. Enjoy Bells' superior picture with regular TV . Its way better than cable. Rob
