SAFELY REMOVING DOORS FOR SHIPPING

Good Morning Jill,

I see that you are trying to remove the doors on your Frigidaire refrigerator, model# FRS23R4A, for shipping purposes. Below are the instructions you will need to follow for both the refrigerator and freezer doors.

DOOR REMOVAL INSTRUCTIONS:
If it is necessary to move the refrigerator through narrow doorways, follow these steps to remove the doors.
IMPORTANT: Before you begin, turn your freezer and fresh food controls to "O" and remove electrical power cord from the wall outlet. Remove any food from the door shelves.

1. Disconnect electrical supply.
2. Open both doors, then remove toe grille.
3. Close doors.

To Remove Refrigerator Door:

1. Remove top hinge cover screw on refrigerator door and remove cover.
2. Trace around hinge with soft lead pencil. This will make it easier to realign doors when they are replaced.
3. Remove top hinge and lift refrigerator door off bottom hinge pin. Set door aside.
4. Remove bottom hinge, if necessary.
5. Reverse this procedure to reinstall refrigerator door.

To Remove Freezer Door:

1. Disconnect water line coming from lower hinge of freezer door at connection located under front of freezer: Press outer ring against face of fitting, then pull to remove tube.
2. Remove top hinge cover screw on freezer door and remove cover.
3. Disconnect wiring harness connector plug at top hinge: place your thumbs on flat sides of each connector and bend both parts back and forth, then with firm grasp, pull both pieces apart.
4. Trace around hinge with soft lead pencil. This will make it easier to realign doors when they are replaced.
5. Remove top hinge, allowing wiring harness to pull through hinge and lift freezer door off of bottom hinge pin. Lay door down flat to avoid kinking water line.
6. Remove bottom hinge, if necessary.
7. Reverse this procedure to reinstall freezer door.

When both doors have been reinstalled, connect water line by inserting tube and push until mark touches face of fitting, replace toe grille and plug in electrical power cord. Turn both temperature controls to center position. Adjust settings as necessary. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

How to Reverse Your Refrigerator Door (Most units)

1. Remove the toe grille.
2. Remove top hinge cover if available. Trace around the hinge with a soft lead pencil. This makes the re-installation easier. Remove top hinge and lift door off the center hinge pin, and set the door aside.
3. Unscrew the center hinge pin using an adjustable wrench and save for reassembly. Ensure that the plastic washer stays on hinge pin.
4. Lift the refrigerator door off of the bottom hinge and set aside.
5. Remove center hinge and shim by removing inside screw and loosening two outside screws enough to allow hinge and shim to slide out. Tighten screws.
6. Loosen two outside screws on opposite side of refrigerator, remove inside screw and install center hinge.
7. Remove two screws on bottom hinge with 3/8" socket wrench.
8. Install bottom hinge on opposite side with the two screws removed from Step 7.
9. Unscrew the bottom hinge pin using adjustable wrench. Move hinge pin to other hold in hinge and tighten with adjustable wrench.
10. Reverse door handles.
11. Move freezer and refrigerator door stops to opposite side. Before starting screws, use an awl to puncture the foam.
12. Position refrigerator door onto bottom hinge pin and screw center hinge pin through center hinge into the top of the door. Close refrigerator door to help align hinge hole.
13. Tighten center hinge pin with adjustable wrench.
14. Remove cabinet and hinge hold plugs and move to opposite side.
15. Lower freezer door onto center hinge pin (if you have a separate freezer door).
16. Close freezer door. Have an assistant lift up on opposite side of the door while tightening screws to install top hinge.
17. Flip top grille and reinstall.
18. Plug in electrical power cord and turn refrigerator temperature control to center position. Adjust setting as needed.

How to remove bottom (freezer) door on my subzero refrigerator/freezer

With the door closed. Remove the cover over the bottom door hinge by removing the two screws holding it in place. This also allows the door closing mechanism to be removed. Rotate the door closer away from the refrigerator and slide straight down. Now open the freezer door. Take a pencil and mark around the hinge on top of the freezer door so you will know where to put the hinge back in place later. Remove the three large hinge screws and two small shipping screws. This will release the door on the top. Rotate the door away to get free from the hinge and pull the entire door straight up.

I have whirlpool A CLASS fridge how do i reverse the door

  • I cannot confirm weather your fridge had reversible doors as you listed no model but the standard for fridges that can reverse the door swing are changed by doing this -
  1. You will see little plastic covers on the opposite side where the hinges and handles are currently located now.
  2. There are some little clips that hinge the screws on the top and bottom of each handle.
  3. Remove these little covers with a small flathead screwdriver.
  4. Now remove the screws holding the freezer and refrigerator handles on.
  5. Now pop the screw hole covers on the side of the frig/freezer you will using.
  6. Now place and fasten with screws the handles on the other side of the frig/freezer door.
  7. Now remove the top freezer hinge first by removing the 3 screws on top.
  8. Now pull up on the hinge (save the spacer).
  9. Now pull up on the freezer door.
  10. Now remove the screws on the middle hinge.
  11. Now pull up and remove the middle hinge while holding the frig door steady (save the spacer).
  12. Now pull up on the frig door and set to the side.
  13. Now remove the screws on the bottom hinge (save the spacer).
  14. Now put the screw hole covers you removed from the other side in the screw hole exposed from the screws you just removed.
  • The switch
  1. Start with the bottom hinge and place it on the opposite side (don't forget the spacer).
  2. Place the frig door on the bottom hinge and the place the middle hinge in the hole at the top of the frig door.
  3. Fasten the middle hinge.
  4. Place freezer door on the middle hinge.
  5. Put the freezer door in it's natural position to make putting the top hinge on possible.
  6. Screw the top hinge in.
  7. Job complete.
Regards, Tony

How do i take freezer door off a side by side frig that has water/ice options

usally a quick disconnect block for wireing harness on top freezer hing. There will be a water supply tube going up through bottom freezer hinge with a disconnect union fitting close by usally under refrig behind toe grill. once these are disconnected you can then take top hinge off of main part of refrig. by taking screws off on top of upper freezer hinge. you then should be able to lift door off by lifting up on door and water line should slide up and through the bottom hinge.

Changing the opening side of the door

You will need to reverse the hinges, it should be the top for the freezer, and the one in the middle support, both the freezer and the large door, you will not only move this to the other side but you may have to turn it over, and the bottom hinge just move it to the other side. You will need to start with the large door, because the hinge support the bottom and top door, the bottom first, next the middle hinge, place the freezer door on the middle hinge and the top hinge to sesure the freezer door, move the handles, the holes for the screws will be on the other side with a little cover that you will have to remove just have to pull them out.

Freezer door misalignment on ARB8057CSL

Before adjusting hinges you need to take a good look across the door from the side to make sure the door is not warped rather than the hinge misaligned. Cannot give much info on hinges but most do not give much adjustment and most can be accessed it is possible that one of the fixings is loose. The other possibility is that the seal is preventing the door from closing, although it does sound as though it is the top hinge not pulled towards the cabinet properly. Sorry to be vague. Hope this is of some help.
