The blue button (on nearly all notebook computers) is a "Function" shift key. Since space is a concern on portable computers, it is appealing to have each key on the keyboard do "double duty" We are familiar with this, using the SHIFT key, to capitalize and to select the symbols above the numbers on the top of the keyboard (ex. SHIFT/8 is an *)
Similarly, there are blue images on some of the keys that can be accessed by pressing the Blue FUNCTION key along with that key (just like you would use a SHIFT key to select a capital letter). Sometimes, these icons can be a bit cryptic, so consult your manual or Google "Travelmate 3230 keyboard".
Hope this helps.

There are a few things that could factor in to this.
1. Be sure that your laptop is in 'presentation mode' as in, there may be a key combination requiring the use of the 'fn' key possibly which will cycle through three different settings for your laptop: 1. Laptop lcd only, 2. External display only, 3. external and laptop lcd display
cycle through these three settings however your computer requires you to do that and see if one of them shows up.
2. Be sure your projector is set to display whatever is input from a 'computer' as some can switch between a t.v. signal and a computer signal it may need to be set for computer
3. Be sure that the resolution of your laptop is not too high. when you go to the display settings you can choose between your different resolutions that you will push out to your 'secondary display' and go ahead and drop it to the lowest setting and work your way up. you might even possibly have to change your actual resolution of what displays on your laptop to a lower setting in order for it to work.
