DI-624M has "limited connecyion" perhaps due to damage to its firmware 10/20/07

My DI-624M previously worked in an Ethernet network including my main WinXP desktop, WinMe laptop and a standalone network printer server plus a WinXP laptop via wireless.  I had changed the IP address from the provided default and it was fine.  Last week, I downloaded a new firmware, ie, version 2.5 from DLink as di624M_firmware_250.bix.  There was problem in loading it to the router per DLink's instruction.  It never gave any indication of success.  All subsequent attemps failed.  Resetting to factory defaults, re-doing network connection setup from the main computer, etc.  All LEDs are happily lit or blinking.  Systm reports "working properly" in 1394 Net Adapter or Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC.  The cable modem connected directly to the computer works.  Your help is appreciated.  Desperately Delinked 10/20/07 23:11 EDT

I also tried to upgrade from the 1.20 to 2.50 DI-624M firmware. It gave no indication of success. It is broadcasting but I can't connect to it. Attempts to reset it to the factory setting do not appear to work. I can't connect to it at 192.168.0.1. I did find instructions to set my PC network device to 192.168.0.2 and booted the router while holding the reset button. This enabled me to get to the upgrade screen. I've tried upgrading the 1.2 and the 2.5 and still have no success.

    Help!

I have a TECHview 4 Channel that records in *.264 format. I am having no problems with the set up etc. I have not got it ethernet/computer linked. I have backed up some footage onto a USB stick and when I plug into the Macbook I can not read the file due to the format. I have not been able to find a "DVR Client Player" on the net to download, so that I can then view, take stills and etc the captured footage (and intruder). Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Can't connect d-link D!-624 after having computer serviced

Is it the only PC on your network that couldn't go online? If it is, then the drivers for the PCs network card may not be installed properly. Go to device manager to check if drivers were properly installed (Right-click My Computer-Properties-Hardware-Device Manager-Network Adapters).

I recently moved from Cable ISP to DSL ISP service. For the DSL service, I was asked to configure my Router to use PPPoE with Dynamic IP addressing. I also provided the router with my username and password...

The reason you have no internet is because the router is specifically for cable. your description contains errors what i think you mean is that you have gone from cable dsl to an adsl, correct me if i am wrong. Basically your modem connected to your router via an ethernet cable and then the router fed the wireless signal to your wireless devices or via ethernet through the 4 ports in the back. With adsl you have a feed from your phone line to an adsl modem so the only way for you to get the dsl router working is to have two ethernet leads connecting to your pc, one from the modem to the pc and one from the pc to the router. You would also need to setup internet sharing on the pc thats connected to both devices.

Either do it that way or buy an adsl router

Hello sir/madam i have problem with D-link router i never change password but now i can not log in the old password why?

Hi do you mean log in to change routers settings or connect to the network which is broadcast by router. If you mean first log in to router settings etc. If your old password don't work you should find a reset button somewhere on router if you press it it will take router to default settings and you can use default user name and password to log in. If you mean connecting to the network you should go to the settings of your router connect to the router by network cable and put 198.162.1.1 in your internet browser put your username and password (which you can find in manual or on internet (just google "D-Link DI-624M Router default username password) and check what password is and change if you like. You should find it in wireless----> security settings. Good luck and please don't forget to let me know if that was any helpful.

D-link di-624m

169 is an internal IP. If you are not already, try a hard wired connection to the router. If this fails, you will need to get in touch with D-link.

D-Link DI-624M

Looks like the file that gets downloaded has a .bix extension.
Try changing the extension to .bin
Then try the update
I think I had to do that when it first came out.
