Microsoft Lifecam / Using a different microphone

I'm using a Microsoft Lifecam for my webcam, and it does have a microphone built it, however I have a seperate microphone that I'm trying to use for the primary voice recordings.. I cannot figure out how to get the webcam's microphone turned off.

I have tried going to the control panel and disabling it, but that seems to disable the whole webcam. I just want to use my Labtec microphone with the Microsoft webcam, I have tried going into the webcam settings but nothing seems to work.

Im not sure I understood exactly the issue but the solutions are more than one ...
you may just uninstall the web cam ...and set the mic you want to use and after that reinstall the web cam ...and you have every chances to be installed and the external mic to remain in use..
or ...to use the mic from the external pink entry of the pc ...just select it from the sound driver ...options..
in your capture program you might also have the choice for which mic to use ....
in your yahoo messenger for example you have this choice on preferences /audio device....
you also may find on your control panel ...sound and audio device /audio../and for the sound recording audio device ...select the one you want...
good luck !

Make sure that you have the Microphone pointed to your webcam within SKYPE. I know that with Ventrillo you need to set it up to see the device within the program. I would look for options within Skype.

Sound on webcam

Hi,
it could be simply the program you are using. Try it in yahoo messenger or msn

It could be that your voice is too strong.(or to bass) Hi noise levels create cut-out voices.
So turn your microphone volume way down, and your program volume UP a little and tweak it.

It could also be the microphone thats built in to the cam. Try plugging in a separate microphone into your computer and see how that performs.

Thank you and good luck.
