Ok error code 1, look for this error code on your owners manual, toyota cd players give 3 error codes, this mean error code 1, error code 2, and error code 3, they all have different meaning please check owners manuel to see what does error 1 mean i will try looking for you
The Owner's Manual only states what an Error is, NOT what the codes stand for. I just spent about 30 minutes going through the manual looking for codes. No dice. The Owner's Manual only states what an Error is, NOT what the codes stand for. I just spent about 30 minutes going through the manual looking for codes. No dice.

purchase an optical disc cleaner disc and put it in your cd player and let it play through and then try a cd. make sure your cds are clean, smudge and not deep scratches. toothpaste makes a good cd cleaner for scratched discs. make sure to use soft cloth
This is a problem with your car cd player correct?
dust often gets in these players and sits on the laser, you might try purchasing a laser lens cleaner at most any store that sells blank cd media. the disk has small brushes on it that safely brush the dust off from the lens.
the optic reader is most likely broke where the thin laser eye beam is not able to communicate with the optic reader. also the high temperature in the car causes these to crack internally. get another cd player because that one is toast!!!!!
I had the same problem when I first got it. I realized that the problem was the CD I was putting in. The CD player will NOT read burned RW CDs. I hope that helps! But it will read burned R CDs and ones from the store.
