please double check that your freezer door is closing properly. You can also pull the fridge out and check whether the water is coming from the back of the of the fridge. If not, then that means there's a leak under the fridge and if that's the case you'll need to schedule a diagnostic on the fridge. You might reach out to Kenmore over the phone directly to ask them to send you a technician for this.
If it is an automatic defrost fridge the it will have a hose draining down into a container under the fridge, make sure it is draining where it should and has,not become dislodged. Some have a small tray with either pipes inside it or an electric heater. Some have a container sitting on top of the compressor, both of these are used to evaporate the water.
check to make sure there are no holes in the water catcher.
if you have an electric heater that is not functioning then the container will be already full of water and at each defrost cycle will overflow onto the floor.
there will be a drain at the back of the fridge down the bottom there is probably something caught in it blocking it causing the water from the evaporator in the fridge to run out instead of down the drain
Hi, As the weather is getting warmer for many people their freezer and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...
Check out this tip that I wrote about that... it is a great place to start trouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then calling a repair person to do a simple thing for you...
try this. switch off unit,do a full manual defrost,no hot water.clean out all vents/drains.then switch back on making sure all door seals flush with cabinet.poss cause unit is working overtime.......
Hi: Usually if the ice maker malfunctions that bad it will keep running and flood bad. If your defrost drain is plugged it will puddle water. Without knowing how much water you see it is tough for me to say precisely. Does the ice bin have a big block of solid ice or cubes? If cubes I would guess it is the defrost drain at the bottom of the fridge. If the drain is clogged the water wont get to the pan to evaporate. If the defrost water has nowhere to go it will puddle. This would produce more water on the floor in a humid area than a desert like I live in. If so look at the bottom of the freezer in the back below the metal panel. Usually there are slots above it. There will be a hole at the bottom of a shallow rectangular funnel. Turn off the fridge and put your food in a cooler. Pour some warm clorox water in the hole, a fairly strong solution. It should eat out the mold that grows in the base of this non refrigerated line. If something like a frozen pea got in the line you might have to use a pipe cleaner to snake it out. Good luck with this, Jeff
Check the cooling panel/ coils on the inside at the back. There should be a collecting channel at the base with a small hole. This is a drain that leads to a pipe - that ends up in a tray on the compressor.
Very often this gets blocked with grey gunge (pleasant I know)
Mop it up, and use a squirt of cleaner to clear it. (use a baster of water to unblock it if needed.) Try to use as little water as you can. The evaporator tray only holds about a cupful.
