Waste toner my canon image runner 400 machine has an error message saying to change the waste toner and I can not seem to locate that anywhere in the machine How do I change the waste toner on my image runner 5055 ?

To change the waste toner on your IR 5055, stand directly in front of machine and look on the right hand side of it where the power switch is a black button on right hand sdie at the back and you will see 4 screws and a metal plate that will come off the waste toner bottle is in there just empty it out and refit to machine all will work, now on your IRC3170 just undo front door and you will see a clear bottle just undo the black screw and take out the bottle and you will see a couple of little clear windows in the bottle make sure you take them out and clean them before you emtpy the bottle, this is where the machines shines a light through it to tell if the bottle is full or not so make sure you have them clean. refit the bottle and all will be ok
