HP 2110 printer, Visa

My HP 2110 printer worked great when I had XP. My new computer runs on Vista. I can print and copy but for the life of me, I can't get the scanner to work. What I have been able to figure out (I think) is it seems that HP Director can't be installed.

Do I need to get a new printer to get the scan capability or is there a fix for this one (that I love)?

Thank you for your help. I should have been more specific.. My printer is the HP PSC 2110. I went to the same area, but for my printer type and the only thing I could (and did) download was the utlility.

I have an hp psc 2110. I made some enlarged

Some basic steps to begin with:
1. Disconnect the printer from the computer and power off then back on. In some cases the problem can be caused by the print spooler on the computer.

2. If the problem persists, power off the printer and remove the power adapter. Leave the printer sit for 10 minutes or so, allowing the internal memory to clear, After which you should hook the printer back up and reconnect to the computer.

Finally determine if the printer is being recognized, on vista or windows 7 you can do this by clicking 'start' >> 'devices and printers'... or on xp 'start' >> 'control panel' >> 'printers and faxes'
If it is not listed as connected on the list (ie. offline) try uninstalling the printer and rerunning the drivers.

I cant plot from AutoCad 2006, using My hp

hmmm.. we only have two computers at my work connected to a router. the designjet has a network card going straight to it. i connect to the router wireless and it reads vista. my boss connects to the design jet thru the router as well with a network card rj cable with xp pro. as for our printer it can be connected via router and does work fine but my boss has it directely connected to his computer and i share it off of his system. then we also have a zerox machine connected via router as well. maybe your router is going out? try a new one or a better one and see if that fixes it. it maybe defected or time for a new one.......

if it was working before then maybe its the router.

Vista cannot connect to xp printer

It sounds like your are using your Windows XP computer as the print server, and you are trying to connect your Windows Vista machine to the Windows XP print server. Your Vista machine is trying to download the XP drivers from the Windows XP computer to your Vista machine. This won't work. Windows XP and Vista print drivers are not compatible.

If the printer is truely networked (it has it's own IP address on the network, it has its own ethernet connection). Then instead of trying to map out to this shared printer, add new printer to the Vista machine using Vista drivers for the HP Deskjet 3940. The type of port you would need is a standard TCP/IP port. To get this address, print a settings page from the printer. Look for either a TCP/IP address or IP address on this print out. This is the port address you want to create and then connect to.

Hp psc 2110 won't work in vista

Vista has the drivers for the HP psc 2110 embedded in the OS.

So, you should be able to print, with the default drivers. But, you will not be able to scan as of right now, unless someone releases an update for the HP PSC scanning software. I doubt that will happen, as these all in one's are so old.

Such a good little printer/ scanner/ copier too.. kind of sad to think its that obsolete that its not compatible for scanning.

Printer will only print, not copy fax or scan

Hi,
It is possiblethat the all in one solution software you used in XP doesn't work with Vista, after some update or other. You did the right thing by uninstalling and reinstalling. Make sure you have the correct driver from the HP site..

But you can still scan and copy by using Windows Photo Gallery.

1. Click on files tab at the top in Window Photo Gallery.
2. Click on import from camera or scanner.
3. Highlight your scanner icon (ie HP C6180) then click import.
4. New scan window will popup, now you can preview or scan using this basic looking Vista utility.

Hope that helps.

Getting the Duplex Attachment to Work with Vista

what printer do you have?
brand and model?
do you has installed the newest driver and utility for vista operating system?
do you know that Vista and XP are incompatible in terms of drivers?

Vista has many drivers for a lots of printers, but these drivers are "generic driver". The generic driver is a small driver, an incomplete driver, and has a limited functions.

I'm assuming you went to the HP site and downloaded the Vista drivers??? Other than that try this:

  1. From Control Panel > printers... uninstall all printers.
  2. Unplug USB cable to printer and re-boot.
  3. Install Software.
  4. Plug USB cable back in.
Hope that fixes Ya...

Network link

Did you make sure that you installed the latest driver from HP's web site for Vista? Some systems will grab the wrong driver if you let it do an automatic install.
