Thread looping on the bottom

It may be your timing is off on the loopers, a thread guide or needle guide can be out of place or even incorrect tensions can cause this symptom. This is not something easy to fix with on line advice. You need an expert.

have you tried changing the needle?
have you tried adjusting the top thread tension?
it might be the needle and the thread are not compatable,, the needle may be to light for the thread.
if the suggestions don't help, sew on the sewing machine till it makes the loop and then stop the machine and take it to the repair man and let him see the loop and then ask him why it's making the loop.

Grab some scrap fabric of the same type you'll be sewing. Tighten your top tension and test sew until you see until you see the top thread of a seam go like a straight line and the bobbin thread loops on top of the seam. Then back off of the top tension until those loops disappear.

If you never see it the top thread go like a straight line... your top tension needs to be cleaned... and make sure you have the pressure foot UP when you thread the upper thread.

Adjust the tension

Load your sewing machine with one color on top, threaded through the needle. Load the second color thread into the bobbin and thread.


Fold the scrap fabric in half, and sew a straight stitch at least 2 inches long. Look closely at the seam. If you see loops of the bottom color thread on top of the fabric, proceed to Step 3. If you see loops of the top color thread on the bottom of the fabric, proceed to step 4.


Loosen the top tension. Since the top tension is so tight, it is pulling the bottom thread up through the fabric. Loosen the top tension by turning the numbered knob on the front of the sewing machine counterclockwise by one number.


Tighten the top tension. Since the top tension is too loose, the bottom thread is pulling the top thread down through the fabric. Tighten the top tension by turning the numbered knob on the front of the sewing machine clockwise by one number.


Sew a straight stitch 3 inches in length. Check the stitching. It is perfect if the threads meet in the middle, and you can only see the top thread on top and the bottom thread on bottom. If it still needs adjusting, go back to step 2 to repeat the needed steps.


Using two different colored threads makes it easier for you to see which thread is being pulled.

Always use proper precautions when working with electrical machines.

General rule of thumb::
loops on the bottom, problem on the top.
loops on the top, problem on the bottom.

It sounds like your bobbin thread is not thru the little tensioner in the bobbin compartment.

Loops on the bottom of the fabric direct the problem to the top thread. Rethread again and make sure the thread goes through the tension discs. Lift the foot, because this is what opens the discs. When sewing and the foot is down, the discs should be closed and thus giving the upper thread the tension it needs.

If the thread is looping on the bottom, then your problem is on the top. Pull the thread out of the needle and and put the presser foot down. If the thread pulls thru easily, then you need to rethread your machine making sure the thread is thru the top tension wheel correctly.

Rule of thumb::
Loops on the bottom, Problem on the top
Loops on the top, problem on the bottom.

FYI---- Loops on the bottom-- problem is in the threading..
Loops on the top--- problem is with the bobbin.

Here are some things to try:
Big loops are actually easier to solve usually. 1st know this: Loops on bottom means the top is too loose or the bottom is too tight. With loops that big its probably the top is too loose. 1st look in tension disks, there is likely a chunk of thread in there. A toothpick is handy to dig it out (the flat kind) 2nd make sure that the thread is getting between the disks when threaded. 3rd Make sure the thread is in the take up lever (the thing that moves up and down in front and not the needle bar or any part of the needle bar.) If neither, then the bobbin case could have a burr on it and the thread is hanging on that burr. Also the bobbin case may be in wrong. I hope this helps
Tension:
If the thread is loose on the bottom of the fabric, it's actually the top thread is too loose. Think of 2 little elves playing tug of war in your machine, one on top and one underneath. If you have loops on bottom, the top needs to pull harder (tighten top tension
Thread test
Test your thread quality to start, thread your machine and LIFT the presser foot (this opens the tension disks). Pull your top thread straight back. If you feel no tension no matter how much thread you pull, your thread is good. If that your machine passes that test, we can go to step 2. If not, try different spool of thread, do the same test until you get a smooth pull (tip: always check your thread this way when you thread your machine)
Step 2:
Pull on your threaded bobbin thread while it’s in the machine. Does it pull smooth and even? If so, go to step 3. If not, try a new bobbin (bobbins get bent or distorted if wound too tight).
Clean thoroughly in the hook and bobbin case area and oil 1-2 drop is all.
