Wifi password or the password for logging into the router settings? If you do a factory reset on the router it will put all settings back to default settings, the default password can normally be found on a sticker on the side or bottom of router. it will say "WEP" or "WPA2 key". you factory reset the router by holding down a red button (inside of a hole) on the back of the router for 12+ seconds while its still powered on.

SOURCE: Problem with netgear wgr614 v6 daisy chain

I am assuming the Verison was setup and working before this started, if not let me know.

Do you know the address and subnet mask for the lan side of the Verison Actiontec router? assumed like address 192.168.0.1 subnet mask 255.255.255.0 This means all addresses 192.168.0.? belong to the verison router's subnet.

Assuming the Netgear router is being daisy chained using a lan port from the Verison Router to the WAN port of the Netgear, the WAN side of the Netgear router needs to be either dynamically addressed or statically addressed in the 192.168.0.? uniquely outside the DHCP range for the Verison router.

The LAN side of the Netgear Router must not be addressed the same as the LAN side of the Verison router in this configuration.

There is another potential configuration where lan ports of both routers are connected. however in that configuration there are additional considerations. Please let ne know which connection you are attempting between the two routers.

There is some additional informatin you can gather

Assuning you have windows XP for the operating system on your computers hook a computer wired if possible to the LAN side of each router and issue the following commands

Click Start then All Programs then Accessories then Command Prompt in the new window that opens type the following command and press enter

ipconfig

write down th IP Address, Subnet Mask and Default Gateway for each adapter

Then issue the following command once for each default gateway not = 0.0.0.0 where {...} is replaced in its entirety with the default gateway.

pring {default gateway address no {}}

the expected responses will be either 4 timeouts or 4 lines with elapsed times. Timeout is failure -- elapsed times means it was connected.

For each router I need to know the default gateway and the subnet mask for the successful pair. Plese reply ina comment to this problem and additional steps will be forthcomming.

SOURCE: GT704-WG with Verizon firmware

For those with the Verizon version of the firmware wanting to setup a Slingbox... You can go to the Security tab and then go to the Games tab and setup the 5001 port from there. It works.

SOURCE: linking wrt54g with actiontec m1424wr

You need to check the ip address of your actiontec router, the default ip address of linksys router is 192.168.1.1, they should not be the same or else you will not able to connect the router to the internet.

To access the router web configuration
http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/linksys.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=3676&p_sid=fvzPHEYi&p_lva=3687#

Let me also give you the site on how to add the linksys router to another existing router.

The linksys has 4 LAN port and 1 "Internet" port on the back - we ONLY use the LAN ports NEVER the Internet port - because your existing router is connected to the Internet - your linksys is connected to the LAN

SOURCE: Actiontec GT 704 WG Verizon to Frontier

You will have to contact Frontier and give them the Mac address of the equipment and they will tell you if it will work or not ( and they will also need to put it in their system)

Forgot wifi password

Do you have any devices that are already connected to the WiFi? If yes, perhaps there is a way to read the password from them.

If not, the only way is reset the router to factory settings.
http://www.verizon.com/support/residential/internet/fiosinternet/troubleshooting/network/questionsone/99116.htm

Be careful, once you reset it, you will have to setup your router from the beginning or you will not have Internet access.

Actiontec GT704WGB from Verizon is working through Earthlink yet Verizon still thinks it is providing service and want to set up my "account"

Sounds like you have Verizon software on your computer. The router has nothing to do with that. Go into control panel > add remove programs and remove the Verizon software.

We need a password for our Actiontec, but can't find one.

Hi.
The factory username and password for an actiontec router is as follows.

USERNAME:admin
PASSWORD:password

If a verizon tech has serviced your device, then the password may be : password1 instead.

I hope this helps you out, and if you have more questions, please feel free to ask me.
I will gladly help if I can.

I have an GT704-WG Rev B; Firmware= 30.17.0 which is connected to my (Macintosh) iMac running OS 10.6.7. Until about 6 months ago my older laptop (Mac, iBook, PowerPC purchased in 2001) was able to use...

Turn the Verizon router off.
Turn the ActionTec router off.
Turn the Verizon router on, and wait until its pattern of lights settles-down to a steady pattern, i.e., fully rebooted.
Turn the ActionTec router on.
Turn the ActionTec router on, and wait until its pattern of lights settles-down to a steady pattern, i.e., fully rebooted.
Use an Ethernet cable to connect from one of the LAN ports on the ActionTec router to the network port on your iMac.
You should now have Internet access.

The next step is to start Safari on the Mac, and connect to the web-server "inside" the ActionTec router, e.g., try http://192.168.0.1 and http://192.168.1.1 and http://192.168.2.1

Login to the router, and run the Wireless Networking Setup Wizard, to configure the wireless adapter:
* SSID -- the name of your network
* encryption-level, e.g., use 'WPA' or 'WPA2'
* password for your SSID

Once you've done this, any of your wireless devices should be able to connect to that SSID, and gain Internet access.

What is my router username amd password?

Unless the password has been changed from its default settings it is:
username: admin
password: password

If that doesn't work you will have to reset the router back to defaults. Instructions on that can be located here:

Hi I want to know on how to setup the verizon Modem/Router I already have a Westell 6100G and i want to upgrade to the new one called Verizon Wireless modem/router model:GT704WG.

Are you on Consumer Verizon DSL? Fair warning if you are using Business Static- the Actiontec is a poor choice due to issues working on a static IP circuit. - I'd use a 6110 and a third party router! However, by default, the only thing you would need to do to setup the modem is go through the activation page when you plug the modem in. If you require an user name and password, it would set that up. Bar any problems, you can contact Verizon technical support since the Actiontec Gateway is fully supported.

Nonexistant customer service by Actiontec

After my second call to Actiontec ended with the help desh hanging up on me, Actiontec did respond to an emailed plea for help and prompty provided a complex script which they labeled confidential to address this problem. The bottom line seems to be Verizon either installed hardware that is incompatable with an Exchange server or they did not configure the insallation correctly. In so many words, Actiontec feels it is a Verizon problem. I wish me luck in getting to the right place to deal with that, even though I am a Verizon stockholder.

Forgot my user name and password

The default username for the router is admin all lower case. The default password, is blank.

Try this first - if that does not work, you will have to set the router back to factory defaults, then do any setups on it that you had before.

To perform a reset on the Actiontec - Press and hold the reset button on the back of the Gateway for 15 seconds. This will reset the unit back to its factory default settings.
