The Prostar 816 phone system can only use Prostar 816 phones. There is a rare larger Prostar system that can use other Prostar phones along with the 816 but typically was only installed in situations where more than 16 phones were needed. If you are looking at non-prostar phones like the Samsung DCS 12 then they certainly will not work.

Trying to make a conference call from the conf speaker (using the flash button) calling two outside lines.

Once you start using the Conference key on the Prostar 816 you will find it really easy to use, and very helpful! I have uploaded a training video for you to watch, other prostar 816 clips are available on Youtube searching for abbeytel. Visit www.abbeytelcom.com for written copies.

Are there any models of the prostar that support caller id?

No. The Prostar 816 is a 1994ish analog system. It was replaced with the DCS digital systems and they do support CID. The phones are not interchangeable.

Need manual

The way to tell if you have either an 816 or an 824 is by the ammount of dss buttons on the left side by the handset. If there are 16 then its an 816, if there are 24 then its an 824. It should also be on the label on the bottom of the phone if its still there. hope that helps.

Can't find code to add transfer to soft keys on prostar 816

Transfering on a Prostar 816 is done by using the DSS buttons on the right hand side of the phone. This is accomplished by having your outside call in progress and pressing the DSS button of the persons extension you wish to transfer it to. If you want to screen the call wait for the extension to answer otherwise hang up and the call will be transfered. Transfer keys were only placed on the 800 series sets and was a non movible button.
hope that helps

6) repeat steps 2 through 5 for the remainder of the lines you wish to change
The code for hold recall is #52
enter in your hold recall time in sec. and in a 3 digit format. i.e. 30 seconds = 030 a minute and a half is 090 and so on.
press # when finished

it sounds like the memory battery on the main board is no longer working which means that it'll happen again.
