I have a Sony model CD-C615 5dics cd player. It has suddenly ( and I do mean suddenly !) stopped recognizing a cd in any of the 5 positions. Any ideas as to what is wrong and what can be done to repair it? Thanks.
Hi, you will need to replace the optical lens assembly asap if possible. this is basically what the issue is at Thia's time. you can confirm my diagnosis by trying to clean the lens with a lens cleaning disc. if the cleaning dosen't restore the reading ability of the lens, you will need to replace the optical lens assembly when possible.

This is possible for you to do yourself if you are tech savvy. the hard part is actually finding a replacement part. i will check on that for you and report back shortly.

Thanks for both recommendations to correct my problem. I do not currently have a lens cleaner but I will purchase one and see if it corrects the problem. If the replacing the optical lens assembly is required, is this something I can do? I have never ventured into repairing electronics so I don't want to get in over my head. I'm pretty handy with a soldering gun but that's about as far as I go. Any further suggestions will be greatly appreciated and thanks again for you suggestions "romsky79" and "localwonder" !
Thanks for the reply. The model cd player I have is a CDP-C615. I an interested in giving the replacement procedure a try. Also, I can search for the part myself but I'm not sure were to look. Thanks for the assistance and for the extra help in attempting to locate a replacemant part.
