Seagate freeagent go 250 gb. was working fine for

which files.... if you have "show system files" selected in your folder options in your operating system it still won't let you open them as that is it's way of preventing you from deleting or changing them

Error (2013) whith Seagate Manager

Cause: File in history folder is corrupted or unmovable.
Solution: If an individual file is identified with the error, delete the affected file from x:\Seagate Backup\History folder on the external drive. If an individual file is not identified then it may be necessary to run Windows error checking on the external drive or delete the x:\Seagate Backup\History folder and run a fresh backup, if it can not be repaired.

Corrupt or unreadable error message

You can use free softwares such as Pandora Recovery to recover data. I cannot guarantee that it will recover any, but it doesn't hurt to try. There are also a lot of other payware softwares you can try if you think it would help.

Can't open HDD drive

Hi
1. Start > Run > type in cmd then click OK to get a command prompt.
2. Type in chkdsk e: /r (replace e: with the drive letter of your external hard drive).

This won't do any harm, it will fix errors on the disk and try to recover data from bad sectors. It might not solve the problem but it's worth a try. Jyo

Seagate 120GB 2.5" with USB 2.0 HDD external Case

Did you try reinstalling the drivers and software for it? I have a Seagate FreeAgent drive and once it went to sleep, it did that exact same thing. I kept playing with it, and rebooting the PC and it finally woke up. On the FreeAgent I was able to then tell it never to sleep again.
