SOURCE: factory settings

If windows still boots ( and the original hard drive is still in the computer) you can click the start button and find the HP Recovery Manager under the All Programs list. It is probably tucked away under one of the HP tabs.

If windows doesn't boot, and you still have the original hard drive you can press F11 when your first turn it on at the HP logo screen. It should start the recovery program. (The F key can be different on different laptops but most recent HP's are F11)

Be careful, doing a System Restore will erase all your Data, so backup anything important!

SOURCE: i can not turn on wireless to my hp pavilion

You have a number of options:

1. Make sure the wireless switch is in the "on" position. This means that the switch is slid to the right. If it is, and the light is blue, then the wireless is working just fine, you just need to connect to a wireless router. However, if the light remains orange...

2. If you have Vista, go into the start menu and right click on "Computer" (XP, right click on "My Computer" on the desktop or where ever you stashed it) and click on "Manage" in the drop down menu. After you do this, you will see a menu on the left, double click on Device Manager (6th item down). This will open another list of items. You need to go to "Network Adapters". This drop list will tell you whether or not the wireless card is being detected. Should say something like "Broadcam 802.11 b/g WLAN". If you see that, the computer is detecting the wireless card and your wireless should be working (however, if it is detecting it and the wireless light is still orange, check the switch again, if it is switched on, then you are about to have a motherboard problem). If the wireless card is not being detected...

3. You either have a HDD, wireless card, or motherboard problem (more often than not it is the motherboard, and you would be hard pressed to find one cheap). If you want to simply try to replace the cheaper parts first and hope that works, start with the wireless card, then go into the HDD, after that, obviously, the motherboard. But I will tell you from experience, that it is more often than not, a defective motherboard.

Free recovery disks for hp pavillion zd8000 with windows 7

As far as I know, the original zd8000 operating system is Windows XP. If you have Windows 7 installed, then you need to get Windows 7 disc and its product key. If you need the Windows XP reinstallation media, then you can use HP Windows XP reinstallation disc only (for example: HP Windows XP Professional with SP2 disc).

Does it boot to the windows screen. By pressing f12 or f2 whatever your machine requires while booting will take you into the bios. Inside the bios you can run all sorts of tests to see what the problem is.

Restore partition

Answer: When the notebook restarts, if there is a Recovery Partition a screen with the prompt Press F11 for Emergency Recovery will appear soon after the HP Logo. If we press F11 on that screen, a progress bar will indicate Starting PC Recovery and then the graphical interface of HP Backup and Recovery Manager will pop up with the option to either: a. Recover the PC to a specific point in time. b. Back up files.
