The door on my dryer and washer open the wrong way

You didn't give the Model # but I brought up this site and each part has a replacement video with it.

  My dryer turns on but when I click start, it simply clicks, but doesn't run. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

  Ok, lets first check your thermal fuse.
  
  You would need to take off the lower front access panel under your door, then take off the duct assembly#45, by removing the two #11 screws as shown in your parts diagram here: Bulkhead parts for Whirlpool GEW9250PW1
  
  Unplug or turn the breaker off to your dryer first before opening it up and ohm testing.
  
  Then you will need a multimeter to ohm your thermal fuse. Its #59 in that parts diagram, take both wires off the thermal fuse first.
  
  Here's the thermal fuse for your model you can order here if needed:

  Let us know what you find.
  
  If the thermal fuse tests good, We've had a few members report door switch problems.
  
  You can check it for continuity with a multimeter to make sure.
  
  Here's that door switch you can order:

  It shows on Page 4-6 in your repair manual I posted a link to below how to access it to check/change it. Make sure your dryer is unplugged!
  
  Push the button in on the door switch with one meter probe on COM and the other meter probe on NO and see if it reads. Normal ohms is 0-1.
  
  
  If the thermal fuse and door switch check fine, then its the control board.

it is possible . I suggest that you talk to a service repair shop to get details of how to to it if it can be done.

Either a wire has come loose in the back or on the cord itself or hopefully not the element is burnt out.

Hello Elizabeth P Cochran - Try resetting the unit by unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker off. Wait approximately ten minutes and restart unit. If the door does not open, then it sounds like the washer is possibly experiencing a communication problem with the control board, wiring failure or faulty door lock. Contact a professional to move forward accurately to properly diagnose/repair unit.

my whirlpool dryer has power but does not start

Unfortunately, you can only change front loading dryer door directions on some models. Washing machines do not allow this. If the units are stacked i may be easier to switch loads, otherwise the dryer door may be able to have the door swing direction changed but without the Dryer model # I couldn't say for sure.

On these model you can only reverse the door swing on the dryer but not the washer.
Alternatively, you can switch places with the washer and dryer provided the washer fill and drain hoses are long enough and there is enough room without obstructing the dryer exhaust vent .

If you want to know how to reverse the door swing on the dryer, post your model number and I will try to assist you further.

sorry but the washer can not be changed. its strike has a lock and can not be reversed. the dryer can be changed, but the best thing to do is move the units and get some longer hoses for the washer.
hopefully you can switch the position of the units, but if not then you will be doing the laundry dance every time you do wash.
