Belt replacement instructions or diagram
In the Google search box type belt and pulley diagram craftsman lt 1000.....then Search images. The first 4 images feature "springs" however, you can clearly see the motion belt diagram. Hope this information is helpful.

If you are sitting on the tractor the belt will have the shape of a upside down "T". The bottom of the T goes over the engine pulley, the top ends of the T go on the blade drive pulleys and the arm pits of the T would go on the flat idler pulleys. Be sure to get the belt under the blade brakes on the blade pulleys or you will burn up the new belt in about 10 minutes. I usually lift the front of the tractor up and let the right rear mower hanger loose to allow the deck to drop down for easier access.
