Half of the screen is black and doesn't display the picture

The tv that I have is an LG 42LB5600-UZ, but that wasn't one of the choices. The problem is that the television turns on... has a picture and sound, and then in about 30 seconds, the screen goes black but the sound continues. It is the same on every channel. It worked fine last night, but not today.

Sounds like poor reception - check your aerial connection

This can be repaired. It's a simple matter of parts changing value and/or solder connections going bad. Call a reputable repair person.

It seem that the OSD still working but the screen is black. try to resolder it first because many old tv has cold solder problems.

Hello! I have a 32" Vizio LCD...within 30 minutes of the tv being turned on, black lines start running through the bottom half of the screen and eventually blacking out the bottom half of the tv screen. It also doesn't have anything to do with the ratio as I have tried that. HELP!

I guess I have to pay money for a solution, which is not what this website says. The only answer I got was pay money and we'll tell you. Is that true/

I realized that there is a 90 day warrantee on parts and a 30 day limited warrantee on labor for the  repairs that were done. As I stated, the original problem was the picture shrinking after a few minutes of the set being on. The repair firm took my control board with them. When they came back to install the repaired control board in my set there was a load spark during the installation, after which I had a black screen and no sound.  The repair firm took my set them and installed a "CAP Kit", a STRM6511, and a "D1881". The set worked perfectly until two days ago.
I called the repair firm an they are coming out this Thursday to check out my TV.   I am hoping the problem is related to the failure of one of the parts installed to fix a similar problem which occurred after the sparking incident.
 

Hi i have this tv and last night the screen went black i can hear sound ok but no picture just a black screen, Also i can see dark
outlines /shadows of whats on the tv, can you tell me please what has caused this

• adjust brightness setting when playing tv.
• adjust screen control located on flyback transformer.
