Standby blinking no picture or sound

My 2002 big screen sony trinitron has a blinking standby/timer light and will not show picture or sound. I have never used the timer and the TV power sounds like it turns on but the screen is black. This just happened while I was watching it, was not gradual.

Ok. I think you'll need an IC or a PSU.

No sound, no picture standby light blinks 5 times, pauses, blinks 5 times, etc. This is a Sony Trinitron 36" Wega tv about 7 years old.

  • Five blinks - AKB circuit (automatic kine bias), the timer/standby indicator blinks for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761 and other components on the C board, also check Q218, 219, 220 on the A board. In addition, unit could be in IK blanking, try turning up screen slightly.

My 36" Trinitron standby lite just keeps blinking..

Hello Nicrod,
Can you let me know how many times that light blinks on your TV? There would be a small interval between blinks and then big interval.
