Magic jack eats up a lot of resources and there are some instances wherein it is conflicting with other software like your antivirus. try to disable these first when using magicjack. then restore them back once you are done using it. just make sure that you use only magicjack at point in time. no random surfing etc etc.. so that you wont get infected by any viruses.

I can not get port to let me get in coming calls

Most likely your system has a firewall somewhere .
Could be the router. You need to log into the router and check TCP ports 5060 and 5061 are allowed in the firewall settings . ring your isp and ask them to help you get Voip incoming ports to work on your router for incoming Voip and tell them the device you are trying to use

I can hear perfectly the party I call or when they call me but they can never hear me clearly

This maybe due to "echo" n long distance calls.

magicJack works hard to ensure a clear connection.

If you experience an "echo" when using a magicJack on a computer:

  1. Go to "Menu" on the top right-hand corner on your magicJack softphone
  2. Click "Headset/Volume Control..."
  3. Lower the volume for both "Speaker" and "Microphone" to about 1/3 (one-third) of the maximum levels.
If that does not work:
  • Try plugging your magicJack into a different USB port.
If that does not work:
  • Unplug your magicJack, restart your computer, and plug your magicJack back in.
If that does not work:
  1. Unplug your magicJack, turn your modem and router ( if you have one) off and wait 3 minutes.
  2. Turn your modem and router back on and plug your magicJack back in.
If you experience an "echo" when using a magicJack connected to modem or router:
  1. Lower the volume on your telephone.
  2. Unplug your magicJack from the power source, wait 30 seconds, and plug it back.
If that does not work:
  1. Unplug your magicJack, turn your modem and router ( if you have one) off and wait 3 minutes.
  2. Turn your modem and router back on and plug your magicJack back in.

Magicjack problems

TWO THINGS YOU CAN START OFF BY LOOKING; Did you ever changed the original IP address in your computer? or do you have house phones connected to the same line you are using to answer an incoming call? unplug all other telephone accessories including blue-tooth that might have any additional button that might interfear answering an incoming call GOOD LUCK!

Magicjack error 401 how do you fix

For error 4.

On your softphone, please do the following:

  1. Click "Menu" on the top right-hand corner
  2. Click "Advanced Users"
  3. Click "Restart"
If your magicJack is plugged into your modem or router, unplug it from the power source, wait 30 seconds, and plug it back in.

If that does not work:

<Requires some technical understanding. Explanation below. >

  1. On your computer, go to Control Panel
  2. Go to Network Connections
  3. Right click on your active Internet connection
  4. Select Properties
  5. Scroll down to Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
  6. Click on Properties.
  7. In there check the little circle that says "Use the following DNS Server address".
  8. In Preferred DNS Server type in: 67.90.152.122
  9. In Alternate DNS Server type in: 67.107.71.186
  10. Click OK and OK.

Now restart your magicJack, by following the steps above.
For error 1
If you hear error 1 while trying to place a call with your magicJack, it means that you are not connected to the Internet.
To resolve this, make sure that one end of the ethernet cable is plugged into your modem/router/switch and the other end into your magicJack.
You also need to make sure that your modem/router/switch is powered on and that the port you have connected the magicJack to is functioning correctly.

No ring on incoming calls

I found this in statement in a review of Magicjack on Amazon, hope it helps.

The one problem I did encounter was at the beginning when I found that one of my phones wouldn't ring when someone called me. By googling the problem, I found out that this problem is due to the ringer equivalency number (REN) of the phone you are using (google "phone REN" to find out what it is). Most phones have their REN listed at the bottom of the base unit. From my experience, I believe Magicjack will only work for phones that have REN of up to 1.0B (add up all phones in your system to get your total REN. Mine had a corded base with 0.6B REN with 2 more cordless handsets. I figured that made my phone system total to 1.8B REN). Magicjack did ring on a phone that had 0.98B REN. To fix the problem, I bought a multi-handset GE DECT 6.0 (model 28223 Series) which basically has REN 0.0B. Magicjack had no problems ringing with this phone. My phone system was over 3 years old anyway so I didn't mind replacing it.
