When I turn on my LG Flat Screen TV, almost half of the screen is white and the other side black. How can I fix this?

When I play any movie, the white side still the same. The other half seems okay but kind of blurry.

Sounds like your panel is going out is it still under warranty? if so call LG set up a service call. They are great (This is from personal experience form what my daughters did to my panel and LG replaced it under warranty!)

that sounds like your LCD controller, since the LCD screen is so big, they will "split" the screen into 2 smaller screens, otherwise it would be so outrageously expensive to have one big massive lcd controller. Your lcd controller is most likely a two-in-one card though, meaning that there are 2 controllers on one board. You'll more than likely need a new controller card for your tv.

SOURCE: LG Flat Screen TV has no picture, but sound

The times my TV at home has done this it is because I'm tuned to an HD source and my TV doesn't have HD. Or vice-versa, I tune to a regular channel and I have the TV set to HD.

If you have NO picture, like the channel number or volume bar don't appear, then this isn't the problem at all.

I would say check the Video (Yellow) cable in the back, or try setting up and playing a DVD and see what happens. maybe cycle through video modes, Digital etc.

If none of this helps, comment on the post and we can exchange more information.

Good luck!

Hello. I have a LG 47lg50-ua that when turned on, the right half of the screen goes white. The left half still plays fine. The warrenty had just expired so. I took the back of the tv off and looked around....

If you changed the Ribbon cable and its still the same then the T-Con board would of probably gone faulty. Lots of weird screen problems can be accounted for the T-con board.

Half screen is blank 42lg20 or 42lg50 when

This is likely to be the T-con board. If the entire screen glows but you have no picture on the second half of the screen then it is the main board, not the backlight inverter. If the screen is half picture and half gray it is the T-con board.

Replacement of one of the above will fix the issue.
