SOURCE: Ruud Furnace won't turn on

Take of the access panel on the furnace and look for a wiring diagram either on the back of the panel or inside the housing. There will be a diagnostic chart on it that will give you a hint what 2 flashes mean. I think it is a "no Ignition" code. If it is, with the access panel off and the door switch taped in the closed position, the furnace will try to start if the thermostat is calling. You want to look at the control module to see if it is flashing, then you should notice a small fan that pushes out the combustion products start to turn. Then if you look in a small view port, you should see an orange glow followed by a clicking noise at the gas valve. Then you should notice a blue flame in the view port. This flame must stay on for 5-6 seconds or the unit will turn it self off. If one of these do not happen, you will need a technician to troubleshoot it. Check to see if all wires and hoses are tight and in place. Make sure your condensate hoses are not blocked and free of water. Make sure there is no blockage in your vent pipe(s).

SOURCE: Carrier Weathermaker gas 8000 will not ignite

Your hot surface igniter may be bad. It may be cracked which would prevent it from starting the burner flame.

SOURCE: ruud achiever 90 plus blower not working

does the furnace ignite?? your system may not have been lighting and has gone into ignition lockout count the codes of the led lights then remove panel led diagnostic codes are listed there.
if led codes indicate no problem verify capacitor is good and that mtr is getting 115 volts.

Heater unit will not ignite, will note fire up

Check your furnace by the electrical panel, there should be a blinking error light. Sometimes there is a legend to how many blinking lights means what. I had an issue with mine, read the code and it turns out it was hitting the high heat limit. Turns out my blower motor wasn't turning on. Replaced it with a spare and it was fixed. Find out what type of furnace, and google the name, model, and the words, 3 blinking lights. Does your furnace turn on at all? Does it start to go through the cycle then stop? This is the proper cycle of a furnace and what should happen.

Inducer motor kicks on, it runs for a little bit, about 3-5 seconds, then you should see a bright yellow glow, this is the igniter, shortly after, you should hear a click and the gas should start to flow, almost immediately it turns to a blue flame. Then your igniter should turn off and the blower motor start up.

I have a Rheem Furance that has turned off. Just a few hours ago the main fan turned off. The Furnace doesnm't light even the draft fan does turn on and then the main fan blower motor turns on. I can hear...

You will need to reset the furnace by turning the power off to it. Then as the furnace tries to light, watch the LED for blinking. Hopefully it will give a code other than 1. Try checking the air filter for blockage, make sure all hoses are free of moisture and any drains are not blocked. Check the air intake and exhaust pipe for sags where water could block it.

The sequence of operation is this:
Thermostat calls for heat, the LED may blink telling you it registers the call. The inducer (exhaust) blower starts closing contacts in the pressure switch (small disc shaped thing), the igniter glows orange (seen thru a small window high up on furnace front), gas valve opens allowing main burner to light, flame travels to all other burners, flame rod senses flame within a few seconds and keeps gas on. Room air blower starts within 90 seconds.

Any deviation or delay in this sequence and it goes into lock-out.

Hello, I have a Amana Air Command 80 model #GHI90A50, 22 years old. This furnace is on its third ingnition module (last one two yeras ago). The symptom I am trying to diagnose has been ongioing since this...

If your furnace lights and the gas stays on for 8 to 10 seconds, then shuts right back off, then you need to clean your flame sensor with light sand paper or steel wool. You might need a new flame sensor, but most of the time they can be cleaned an will work well after cleaning.

Ruud achiever 90 plus furnace will not start with door on.

I would try to check your return air first, making sure there is no blockage and that your air filters are clean. It almost sounds like when you take the cover off, you are pulling enough air into the system for it to run, but as soon as you close it off, it's not getting enough air flow, therefore, tripping a limit switch inside the furnace. Most furnaces will also have the codes for the flashing lights and what they mean on the inside of the door covers.

My gas goodman heater will not ignite.

It is probably not the glow coil, if this is a 80% regular
furnace, Make sure the induced draft blower is working. I once went to a house where I came across
this problem, the only difference is that it would acutually start and then shut off. I took the vent apart
at the furnace and found a bird that was preety cooked.

If this is a90% High Eff. furnace, make sure the pvc
vents are not plugged. To troubleshoot the intake
Vent. Remove the combustion plate and then turn
the unit on, if it runs you have a problem with the
intake vent.

You could temp. remove the exhaust vent and then turn on the power if it runs then your exhaust vent
is probably plugged. You could go outside and make sure the vents are free.

Make sure you have gas available, these are the most commom issues that could solve your problem

Furnace wont start. heil gas furnace. on initial

Yes, inspect the air intake, exhaust pipe, filter and condensate piping for blockage or moisture. Also check for a hole in the hose that goes from the small exhaust blower to the pressure switch or a bad connection on the switch or control board. You may be able to temporalily jump the switch for diagnostic purposes only.

Ignition failure code on

Sounding like a flame proving device is failing to sense flame. Try to clean the device with some steel wool. It is located right next to the last burner looks like a thick wire. Take the steel wool and gently rub the carbon that has built up off. Should only take 4 or 5 strokes. Let me know it that did it. Ken
