Start problem I couldn't start my BMW 120 in this morning. When I inserted remout control in the slot, the dash left dark, no any lights went on. I checked the battery - is was 12.3 v. Remout control itself works OK. It opens and closed doors without a problem. The radio also works OK. But I noticed that there is no "click" sound which it usually is when the remout control comes into the slot. I checked fuses for Start/Stop button, there are all OK. Any idea what it can be?

The remote is not working properly. If possible get the remote serviced at any authorized center & if not serviceable you have no option but to replace the set with a compatible set.......sodeep
(but before you do that if the remote has batteries and they have been in use for quite some time then change those batteries & give it a trial)

1994 BMW 318i have one key only. The key slides in ignition won't start.

Question edited to what I think, you thought you were saying :>D
Question moved to model category.

All vehicles need 2 good keys.

I don't suppose you have a way of testing the battery voltage? It is drops below 11 volts, nothing works the way It should, including removing the key on a vehicle that is an automatic.

You have the symptoms of a car alarm and immobilizer stopping it starting. After disconnecting the battery, it definitely need resetting. You need a mobile auto locksmith you cut you a new key and program both keys to make it start. People always think they only need one key because they are careful and won't lose it. Then they do and you either pay dealership prices for a key to be made based on the VIN number, or you buy a new lock and keys and have the hassle of fitting it and reprogramming it.

sounds like the key may be worn out..check the appearance of it if it is worn a little smooth that could cause the problem you're describing.

My car is a BMW series 1. I have two amber lights on my dashboard. The handbrake sign and a circle with a triangle in the middle. What does this mean?

I took a quick look but couldn't find your model but in a BMW you have a "Dynamic Stability Control" which is for controlled driving in bad situations basically. Now like I said I couldn't look up your exact model but look in your vehicle for a button on the dash/radio/instrument cluster. The button you want to find should be marked "DSC" which turns this control on or off manually. You may have hit that button by accident. Push it and it should turn the system back on. If that doesn't work it means you have a problem in the DSC and it is not working. If this is the case unless you are a BMW mechanic, you need to take it to someone who is to take care of it. It's no real danger like the brakes are out but the handling will be limited to what it used to be. That's what both those lights on together mean. I hope this helps and good luck.

Dead battery or starter?

Take the battery out and have it charged up. reinstall it and you should be allright. Your car has discharged it completely, and it will need a recharge to start. The gauge is only measuring voltage, and not the status of charge.
