Right in that case it becomes quite difficult. Some bios chips are able to be reset (including password) by removing the CMOS battery, (small round button battery on the mainboard). If this doesn't work. Then the bios chip itself would have to be replaced. It may be possible to hard reset the chip by shorting certain pins but that is a big risk.

system when requested. Look for manuals and search them for Bios Password or Resetting Bios Password.
Unfortunately there is no real way of unlocking a BIOS password, the only time I have been able to get into a locked BIOS was to remove the laptop battery and leave it for a few days, but that was an old laptop. New laptops will store BIOS passwords in NVRAM to stop people from being able to access it. You will need to RMA the machine to Compaq.
1) Prepare at least 1GB of USB Flash Drive
2) Download & install
A) Imgburn [Freeware]
B) 7zip [Freeware]
3) Open Imgburn > Choose 'Create image file from Files & Folder'
4) Create Image files (.iso) from Operating System CD/DVD
5) Once finished, open the .ISO files with 7zip (right click on that file > 7zip > Extract)
6) Extract .ISO file to USB Flash Drive

In order to change the hard drive on this laptop you are going to have the remove the battery and the keyboard because the hard drive is directly under the keys. When you remove the battery you will see 3 screws, remove them. Open the screen and flip the laptop over to see, in the battery compartment, the keyboard release access. Insert a flexible tool and press inward to release the keyboard. Flip the laptop over and gently lift up the top part of the keyboard until it releases. You will see you have the hard drive there. Unscrew it, remove the bracket and replace the hard drive. Be careful not to loose any screws and never force a screw back into place.
