Broken screen I have had the Olympus FE 190 since May 2007. At the moment, the screen is broken. It appears to have some physical damage, but since I bought a protective case, I can't think of how it would happen. when the camera is off, you can see a large darker spot on the screen. when turned on, the top half of the screen is white, with the large black spot running through. there also seems to be a lighter thin line in the spot. the bottom half of the screen is fine and ready to take a picture. the camera can still take a picture and put them online. thanks for any help offered!
I have exactly the same problem - caused by having the camera in my pocket when I tightened my lap safety belt too tight and exerting undue pressure on the camera. No steps taken to resolve as yet, the retailer has told me it would cost as much to repair as to buy a new camera - approximately $300 Australian. Any tips would be most welcome.

Same problem, wasn't abusing the camera and simply bumped a wall when it was in my jacket pocket and the screen cracked and can't see any image at all! when the camera is off, there is a dark line through the top right of the screen, when i trun it on- the line renains black, but the outline of it lights up red.
the top half of the screen (to the left of the line) lights up, bet every other pixel is white, and the area to the right of the line completely white.

Check the LCD screen of the camera. You should get a message when you first plug it in to select the usb type. highlight PC and press ok. The screen should display one moment please then go off. Then the camera should be recognized by the computer.
For you to be able to verify wether if its a physical damage or just a software problem,try to go to the BIOS and see if the line still appear,if there is,that means that there is something broken inside of the monitor,most possible the LCD it self that needs to be replaced,but if the line is not there,just try to update the graphics driver.

get a new camera sorry it is a specalty wiring very expensive assembly machine
if it is truly broken. just get a new one
cost of repair is at least 1/2 of new camera
there is no repair of the lcd
You will need to call Olympus to discuss the repair process and they will be able to give you the cost for the repair service. Their telephone number is 800-622-6372 option 2 and then option 3
Broken LCD screen is quite easy to replace on the FE-170 and FE-210. I have purchased cameras with bad lens but good LCDs on ebay pretty cheaply( compared to having Olympus repair camera).
