EEPROM hard reset what is the procedure to reset a eeprom either by lifting a pin or shorting across the pond

An EEPROM is an Electrically Eraseable Programmable ROM.
If the data is corrupt, re write the programme if you have the software to do it.
They rarely fail.
Check the 5/3.3volt supply.

Hi, Onkyo TX SR 705 have a super cap for memory presets ou eeprom?? When the power is down and it loose the presets, whats the problem?? Tks

“Hi, Onkyo TX SR 705 have a super cap for memory presets ou eeprom?? ”
Yes, it may have a 5.5V cap with 0.1F for memory to use .When the power is down and it loose the presets, whats the problem?? Tks
Don't worry, it will be charged up when the amp is On. The longer the time it is on, the longer the time it charged. For your case, replace the cap mentioned above can fix the problem. I will post the photo later.

After checking the onkyo TX-SR705 service manual, however, I did not find any capacitor of 5.5V 0.1F on the schematics. The EEPROM is powered by a polar capacitor. See photo.

Step of repairing
(1)Download the onkyo TX-SR 705 service manual.
(2)Find out the EEPROM located at Main Microprocessor Unit.
(3)Replace the capacitors of epprom
(4)If the problem doesn't solve, copy
all data form the old EEPROM by a SPI EPPOM reader.
(5)Buy a new SAME MODEL EEPROM and copy the old data to
the new one.
(6)remove the old defective one from the circuit board
(7)put the new one with data copied to the circuit board.7abf1fe5-29df-4e3d-98b4-8e2ba153ec59.jpg

How to reset eeprom(service menu settings)

This is the reason I am careful about walking people into the tech menu on sets--one wrong move and poof!

If you by a miracle find the full service manual it would have the information needed (if set has this) for a hard reset---other wise you would have to try to with the manual reset every setting to factory one at a time...........

Recently i replaced eeproms in lcd's la40r81bd & la40n81bd, i can get into service mode but do not have the data to set it up correctly. can you help with correct data, thanks in anticipation.

Out of curiosity why did you replace the eeproms?

In my opinion only good solution to the problem would be to get an image from a working eeprom and burn it in the replacement.

Manually setting up data sucks.

HELP!!!!

The values in the service manual are just to get the TV running. The values that were in the TV were all correct for the CRT, deflection yoke, high voltage transformer. These values are changable as NO two parts are alike and have to be aligned accrodingly. You most likely will need to replace the EEPROM now to get back to center or factore defaults. By the way, you only have to unplug the set for 2 minutes for a reset to occur.
