Can the water filter housing be the cause of slow water when the filter is in place?

Even a new filter will reduce the flow some what. I think the pressure to the filter is low or restricted . that will cause a reduction in flow, no it should not leak, check on the seal.

Removing Whole House Filters

Frequently whole house filters can be very difficult to remove. The canisters become almost impossible to loosen, even after pressing the pressure relief valve and using a housing wrench. The most common reasons for this are the housing was put back on with the housing wrench, debris in the housing threads and a bad pressure relief valve.

How to remove a stuck filter housing.
1. Turn off the incoming water.
2. By-Pass the Softener
3. Go to the nearest cold water faucet, open it and let the water run until pressure drops significantly.
4. Turn the water off at outlet of filter (If housing has shutoff on top off head, turn this off now).
5. Press and hold the pressure relief button to relieve pressure further.
6. Use filter wrench to unscrew housing (If it still won't loosen repeat steps 2-5).
7. After removing, clean housing thoroughly, make sure threads are clean on filter bowl and housing head. Lubricate threads of housing and head with plumbers faucet lube or silicone.
8. Clean and lubricate the O-Ring (replace the O-ring every couple years or if housing leaks after screwing back on). It helps to flip the O-Ring over a couple times per year.
9. Replace the cartridge filter and screw the housing back on.
10. Turn the incoming water on slowly while holding the pressure relief button down until all air is purged.
11. Open outlet and let water run to cold water faucet until all air is purged.
12. Put softener back in service.

IMPORTANT! Only tighten the filter housing by HAND!
NEVER use the housing wrench to tighten the housing.

I hope these tips help you with the angst of removing stubborn filter housings.

How to open the housing on big blue 20 to change filter

The best way to do this is to shut the incoming water supply off. Open the closest cold water faucet to relieve the water pressure. Shut off the outlet valve. You will need a BB wrench. Push the RED pressure relief button on top of filter as you turn clockwise on the wrench. Lubricate the o-ring with silicone lube, clean filter housing and re-install filter. Only tighten housing hand tight.

Removing cover from big blue 10 water filtering system

The best way to get it off is as follows.
1. Turn the incoming water off.
2. Open the closest cold water faucet and let it run until pressure is relieved.
3. Close the outlet of pre-filter housing.
4. Push the pressure relief button and hold it down until no more water comes out.
5. Use the filter housing wrench to unscrew housing.
6. If it is still hard to take off repeat steps 2-5.
7. Clean the housing and o-ring, lubricate the threads of housing and head with silicone lube or plumbers faucet lube. Lubricate the o-ring with same.
8. Replace filter
9. Only tighten the by hand NOT with wrench.
10. Turn water back on and hold pressure relief button to bleed off air.

The number one reason for filter housings being so hard to get off is people tightening the filter housing with a wrench when re-installing it.

Central air blowing warm air

2 things could be happening. 1, inside unit needs filter changed and coil cleaned. 2, unit is low on freon. A/C tech should be able to check for both. You can check the a/c coil to clean it yourself but to check for low freon this will have to be done by a a/c tech due to the complexity of the system. the ice is caused by a series of things however, check the a/c filter and the coil located behind the filter. this coil should be free of any debris. if you have indoor pets sometimes the hair clogs the coil causing the freeze up.. To clean the coil you need to get a small weed killing sprayer.. At the a/c supply house you can purchase cleaning solution that is easy to use an safe for the enviroment also leaves your house smelling great. if the coil inside has been cleaned check to see if the coil outside is clean if not you can clean it with a water hose by spraying the coils out. MAKE SURE TO KILL THE POWER beforehand. Also spry the water onto the coils only and spray in the oppisite direction of air flow. Have system checked by a/c tech if you do not feel comfortable doing any of these suggestions

Whirlpool YGEW9250PWI - doesn't stop drying. What do I do?

Is the display counting down , then freezes?
Does it have the same symptons whether you set it on perm press , normal, delicate??
Are you using fabric sheets? If so, thenget some alcholol and put some on a cotton ball. There is two metal strips inside the dryer, clean them with the wet cotton ball. Remove your lintfilter. Trickle some water on the filter. Did the water bead up? If so, get some 409, windex or any spry cleaner and wash the filter as well. Retest with the trickle water. Water shoul know flow through.
YOu might want to also check your venting for retricions,. Disconnect your vent hose from behind the dryer and run a load with it disconnected. Leave enough room for the dryer to exhaust.

Lastly , i the above has no success, then you might have an issue with your interface board or thermister

Good Luck!
