I have a 32v25 thats about 10 years old. I'm not a TV technician or electronics expert. The TV started losing brightness and got to the point where it was hard to watch during the day. (Lightness sensor off) and colors have a dull green cast. When the lightness sensor is on, there is almost no luminance. I found the service code and was able to change SBRT from 22 to 60 and get some brightness back, but color is still dull.
Pulled circuit boards out and look for cold solder joints but couldn't see anything obvious.
Question, tube going bad or something else worth fixing.
It's more than likely the tube, my friend. The chances of it being a power regulation problem is kind of remote at this stage of the game....accordianman

The color image is comprised of three colors, Red, Green, and Blue. All the other colors are mixtures of those colors. The yellow picture indicates that your set is lacking sufficient blue drive.
First of all check to make sure that the tint control is not misadjusted. The next thing is dependent upon the age of your television. If it's an older set that yellow tint is a sign of an aging picture tube. If it's a newer set, less than 5 years old, have it analyzed by a electronics technician that is familiar with televisions if he is skilled enough he will know right away if it's the picture tube or not.
The color signal consists of Red, Green and Blue. Those three colors, at various degrees, make all the other colors on your screen.
If you have a BRIGHT green screen it's best you don't operate your set. If it's just tinted green then there is a problem on the CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) drive board. Do check your "tint" setting and see if someone misadjusted it. If that isn't it then you need to have your set on an electronics bench and get an estimate for repair.
This sony (KV-36FS120) is a flat screen CRT type Television not LCD. However the problem you are describing sounds like a CRT problem. I posted this before and I hope it is helpful to you,
This may be a CRT problem. From what it sounds like i.e. dim picture,
colors not bright. If you have a background in electronics I would tell
you to check the voltage levels on the CRT pins and compare them to the
values on a schematic, however if you do not have a background in
electronics, I would suggest you taking the TV to your local TV repair
shop and have them troubleshoot your problem.
Here is a possible list of things that might be wrong:
1) CRT going bad (The shop can try CRT rejuvenation if needed) 2) High Voltage on the anode not at proper levels (The shop can check this with a HV probe) 3)
Video output levels low (The shop can check the voltage and signal
levels on the CRT socket board, and on the video amplifiers).
These tvs are known for bad power supply capacitors. Try power cycling the tv several times (8-10) to see if it finally comes up. Four flashes indicates a power supply problem or a deflection problem, usually it is the first. Take the set into a shop if you are not an electronics technician, as these are dangerous areas to work on. Otherwise, use a capacitor checker to test the caps, starting with the main supply caps which are usually 200v. I've found these to be low by 200uf. Also, check the 1000uf and 2200 uf caps. These will be low by 100 - 200uf.
It could be a flyback or deflection problem, but check those caps first.
I have the same problem. Picture cuts out completely then back on. When I first turn it on, it does this constantly for about 15-20 mins, then about once every 30 mins or so.The sound is fine, but the picture just flashes on and off. The color is also starting to shift a lot and cannot be fixed by adjusting COLOR-BRIGHTNESS-PICTURE in the video control menu system. Nothing seems to correct this. I've even unplugged the TV over night to see if it needed some sort of reset. Model = KV-20FV12. Purchased in 2004 My connection is a direct cable connection - Comcast cable. Same problem persist while showing a DVD as well.
