Did you download your Win7 upgrade or did you buy a boxed copy? If you have a boxed version, check in the box. My Win7 upgrade came with both the 32-bit and the 64-bit DVDs in the box. Try using the other optical disk in the upgrade package. If only one disc is in the package, contact the source where you got the upgrade. Only the package for installing a new OS (OEM or full version) comes with just the one disc included. For those, you need to specify the type of system on ordering.

If you downloaded the upgrade, you will need to get a different upgrade file and burn it to disc or make a USB installer for that version of Windows 7.

To confirm your current version of Windows, click Start and choose the Control Panel. Click on System and Security and then on System. This page will display the Windows version and append x64 if you have the 64-bit version.

Alternatively, download the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor, http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/downloads/upgrade-advisor , and it will confirm if your system is compatible with Windows 7 and which version you need.

I hope this helps.

(even the Windows 8 upgrade came with both the 32-bit and 64-bit DVDs in the box.)

Can this model be upgraded from xp 32 bit to windows 7 64 bit with 2.5 gb of memory?

Yes you can however HP only supports Windows XP (32-Bit), Windows Vista (32 and 64 Bit) No official support for windows 7.

However Most modern PC's will run windows 7 and most drivers are available. Upgrade at your own risk.... There might be some drivers that you wont find and may cause problems with your PC.

But why upgrade to 64bit if you are not upgrading memory to 4GB+?

Emachines G640G 6670M

Open Device Manager, Uninstall the Graphic Card and driver, reboot the machine, allow Windows 7 to apply the generic driver, Open Windows Updates and run. OR, open Device Manager, display adapter, update Graphics adapter. OR, Use the eMachine windows vista 64 bit drivers. Download the Windows Vista 64bit driver and Save , open Properties, change compatibility to Windows 7. Is it possible to upgrade from Windows vista 32bit to Windows 7 64bit

If your Acer has a 32 bit processor then you cannot upgrade to a 64 bit Windows operating system. In this case you can upgrade to 32 bit Windows 7

I could not upgrade neither windows XP, Windows 7 of this Product Model: GT5662. Would you assits? Thanks.

Hello kelvinvu, according to the information that I gathered from this computer model, it has Windows Vista 32 bit home premium installed on it. Windows XP is an older operating system so you can't "upgrade" to it. You could however install a fresh copy (more likely completely erasing all your previous information on vista and data files) or you could upgrade to Windows 7. Since you are using "Windows Vista 32 bit home premium", you have to upgrade to "Windows 7 32 bit home premium" or better. So if you were trying to "upgrade" to Windows 7 Home Basic, it will not allow that since it considers that a downgrade in the Operating System. You should actually be able to pop in the Windows 7 Home Premium CD while vista is running and start the upgrade process pretty painlessly that way. Just access the CD and walk through the menus for upgrading Vista to Windows 7. As a reminder, you must use the 32 bit discs. If you try and use the 64 bit discs (a different operating system as far as windows is concerned) you will have to go through the same process of installing a new version of windows (not upgrade). I hope this has solved your specific problem kelvinvu, have a great day!

I have a Lenovo Y550…before upgrading from Vista (64bit) to Window 7; the Windows upgrade advisor recommended I uninstall OneKey Recovery 6.0 because it wasn’t compatible with windows 7, so I did. After...

I think i know what happened. Windows Upgrade Advisor by the name itself it means that there has to be an older version present on teh system to be UPGRADED. Have you tried installing WIN7 with OKR v6.0 then downloading OKR v7.0 try not uninstalling the OKR v6.0

>I chose not to charge you for rhis since this is more of a suggestion than a resolution... i would like to know what happened after trying this, i would greatly appreciate your comment on this, thanks!

I am trying to install AutoCAD 2004 on my new computer with windows 7 and wont install. Any ideas?

AutoCAD 2004 and Windows 7 are NOT compatible. You will need to upgrade to AutoCAD 2010 either 32-bit or 64-bit. Even with the upgrade, there are known limitation issues.

Windows

If your computer meets the hardware compatibility requirements,

purchase Windows Vista Home Basic 32-Bit at this link for under

$90.00. Install it as an upgrade and your existing files will be moved

to a folder named Windows.old. If you choose to upgrade bear in

mind that Vista puts your system resources under a heavier load

so you may want to add more memory to your machine.

My Type Artist won't run on 64bit Vista

most will have to be run in compatibility mode. movies on cd & dvd probably won't burn to cd (or run at all). they're too old for the manufacturer to post patches for vista support.

if the software is already installed on a pc, run the upgrade advisor to get more info on compatibility.
