Maytag microwave going crazy

My microwave started beeping at me. Then it flashed a message to open and close the door and push start. It started cooking with a micro 22:22 on the display pad. After trying to clear thr pad and opening and closing the door numerous times, it now is displaying a 5E and every minute it beeps at me. What is wrong?

< - Let ME know your full model number from the tag and I can give you complete detailed instructions on how you or a friend can fix it.

"SE" means you have a shorting membrane keypad.

If and when an oven is coming on or doing anything by itself, this is very dangerous and can result in a fire.

So until it is repaired, please leave it unplugged or leave the door open when it's not in use, and of course one should never leave a microwave unattended while cooking.

SOURCE: door indicator prevents microwave from starting

This is usually an indication of a bad door interlock. Take resistance readings with the power turned off on the primary and secondary interlocks. You will need to remove the control panel to access them. There should be a wiring diagram somewhere inside the control panel to assist you in determining if the interlock is normally OPEN, or normally CLOSED. As you open and close the door the interlock should change states. Additionally, double all your connectors to make sure they are plugged in correctly. I had a similar problem once and it turned out to be a loose connection on one of the interlocks. I hope this helps you.

You have a shorted 2 pad on the keypad.

Since it's less than one year old, it should be fully covered under warranty. I'd suggest contacting the manufacturer to get it fixed free.

SOURCE: Hi. I pressed the 'quickstart'

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If that doesn't work, leave it unplugged for maybe an hour. Then let us know if the hard reset does not fix it.

It may be a problem with a door switch or door switch mount.

Replace the fuse with a ceramic fuse from Home depot! costs less than $3 and it will fix the problem. I had all the same problems as everyone else, you name it my microwave had it! you must remember replace it with a ceramic fuse! not a glass one. I know people say its the switchboard and all that nonsence but I promise you, the fuse plays a majoe roll in the microwave not working properly. Even though it doesnt look broken, a junky fuse can cause your appliance to do very strange things. I replaced mine 6 months ago and it works like its fresh out of the box.

My GE stainless steel 1100 watt microwave starts beeping out of the blue and the display panel shuts off and when I open the door it resets itself and then starts to beep when I close the door again.

Try removing the power cord for about a minute, push all the touch pad 'buttons' and then plug it back in. If this doesn't work it sounds like you may have a bad door interlock switch or a bad PCM .. Good luck !

Can't get microwave to start

You likely have a bad top or bottom door switch or its mount is loose, misaligned, or broken.

Need to know how to remove the control panel to check the fuse. Will not run, push start, beeps three times and light is not working. Please help us!

the fuses for microwaves are not normally placed on the control panel...they are in the back near the power cord...but the fact that it beeps 3 times means the fuse is ok...power is going in....most likely, the fault is one or more of the door interlock switches which arc every time you open and close the door and they corrode or wear down very badly sometimes even burn away so that there is no more contacts to come together....interlocks are cheap to buy and they just snap in place....access to them is easy...just remove the cover and look right behind where the door closes on the inside, you'll see a plastic bar on the door that when you close the door...it pushes on the interlock switches on the inside to activate the oven.......if the interlocks are ok...then you probably have a shorted magnetron....very common on any type of microwaves are these 2 parts...( the interlock switches and /or magnetrons.....it's not likely that your control panel is bad unless you physically see that something has burned on it.....good luck

Sounds like an intermittent door switch or a loose door switch mount. Very common.
