Receiving volume is very low, I have to turn the volume up all the way to hear anything (squelch is very low when I turned knob to readjust settings) when before I didn't even need to turn it up halfway to hear loud and clear. This just started and this is the first it has been on since my truck got out of the shop for repairs not related to anything that would affect the radio. The shop did however turn the power off to the cab using the switch just inside the driver side door on the floor when they were finished. I'm wondering if that screwed my radio up somehow?

SOURCE: The power/volume knob doesn't do anything.

I have a uniden pc79 I have been working on with a similar problem. Its basically the same radio as the one you have.

Far as I can find so far it is a problem with the weather board, and how it is interrogated into the radio.

The way the do it now, the weather board is part of the radio now, so it will not function without it.

Some one I know told me it could be a problem with the VCO as well. If it is not aligned properly. I have not had a chance to try aligning it yet.

Pretty much there is something blown inside the radio. I wish I could tell you what. Never the less, the radio is going to need either a tech, or to be sent back to cobra.

I can't turn off the squelch on my Radio Shack Digital Trunking scanner.

On all channels, or on one channel ? Some channels are "birdie" channels, check your user manual. Others are problem channels receiving false signals from computers, monitors, receivers, internet equipment, FAX machines, etc. If your in conventional mode, if in Digital mode the squelch is set by the processor, and I don't believe the squelch has any effect in that mode.

My recieve on cb radio doesnt work

Are you sure this is the problem. Some people just don't take the time to read the manual that came with the radio.Looking at the radio did you notice if came on or not, turn the volume knob till you here a click and it should come on.Do you hear a loud hissing noise,if not there is a knob that says squelch on it ,turn it all the way to the left. There may also be another knob that says RF GAIN,turn it all the way to the right. Do you hear anything now?Try hooking up your antenna!!!

How can i stop the squelch ive tryed turning the sqcuelch doesnt help

Plug the AC adapter into the back of the scanner and into a wall electrical outlet. Screw the antenna into the receptacle on the back of the scanner (extend the antenna to full length for best reception).

  • 2 Set the squelch level to allow signals to be heard by turning the squelch knob counterclockwise. Rotate the volume knob clockwise until you hear static. Slowly turn the squelch knob clockwise until the static noise disappears.
  • 3 Start programming frequencies into the scanner by pressing the "Manual" button.
  • 4 Press the up arrow or down arrow key until the channel you wish to program is visible on the display.
  • 5 Use the numbers on the keypad to enter the frequency for the local transmitter you wish to receive.
  • 6 Press the "E" key to complete the process of entering the frequency.
  • 7 Repeat steps 3 through 6 for each additional frequency you wish to monitor.
  • 8 Press the "Scan" key to start the scanning process. The scanner stops on a channel when it detects a signal strong enough to hear over the squelch setting. Two seconds after the signal stops, the scanning process resumes.

How do i set my knobsso my radio works

Turn the volume up about 1/3, the squelch off or fully counterclockwise. You should now hear static or talking,if not something is wrong with the radio. As a last resort change to channel 19 and see if it is dead as well. None of this is valid unless you have a proper antenna connection. When you are receiving then adjust the volume to a comfortable level and turn the squelch up, clockwise, until it just mutes when no one is talking. The higher the squelch the stronger the signal has to be to be heard.
    Good Luck,

    Transmits but doesnt receive

If the meter shows that it's receiving something, the microphone may be the problem. Another possibility is the speaker & plugging an external speaker in would confirm this. Aslo make sure the squelch control is turned all the way to the left (counter-clockwise) & the RF gain is turned to the right (clockwise).

Motorola FV500 2 way radio can send/cant receive

Do you hear the Beeps on the speaker? Check for the QT and the code squelch are the same in both radios, try to set code squelch in "0". Make sure that the radio is not receiving or the other one is not transmiting, with two radios will see the same.
