Crashing with white screen

This sounds like either a case of graphical artifacting, or your pc is simply crashing.


Graphical artifacts are things not normally seen on your monitor created by overuse of the graphics card, such things as white pigments and the odd pixel patterns you saw are some signs of this. I've experienced this problem, and have had the speakers make the noise you heard noise upon restarting the pc. To see if this is the cause I would try running an extremely graphically intensive game or program such as a 3D benchmark to test the limits of the graphics card, and if you see the odd pixelation during the testing, then it is most likely that the card is the problem, and you should call its manufacturer for a replacement.


If your pc is simply crashing then either your power supply is not putting out enough power for you graphics card, or the graphics card is not hooked up to the motherboard properly. The first to do to check if this is the case is to run your pc until it crashes and see how hot your pc has gotten, if it is very hot, then your power supply could be overloaded, or you may not have enough airflow in the case. I would suggest opening your pc and looking for anything out of place, and even perhaps getting professional help from a technology store.

If the OS keeps on crashing, it may be due to the issue with the Hard disk. If the system is still under warranty then you can ask them to replace the Hard disk stating that it keeps on crashing.
Or if the machine is old, then you can buy a new hard disk and replace it with the old one...

Check the game's compitablity with your graphics and the ram card.

This problem is due to a failing hard drive I believe. When the virus scan is working you get a clicking sound then it crashes. Clicking sounds from your laptop while running scans on the hard drive are bad. The first thing to do is to get your irreplaceable files backed up then contact a service professional to get the drive replaced. If it is a reputable service person they should be able to clone the drive over to a new drive with no major issues. Be sure to insist on your old drive back. Even though it may have issues, my guess is that you still have personal information you would not want someone else to get hold of.

The complete solution to this fault (Acer 5535 keeps crashing under vista) is to use Windows XP instead of Vista. Set up a Dual Boot so you can CHOOSE to load XP or Vista each time you turn on the laptop. I've put XP on my 5535 and it's SO much faster and seems perfectly stable now - no crashing at all.
