To ensure it is just not your display settings, go to Safe Mode and see if you have the same problem.
Two scenarios; either the display adapter is malfunctioning and it's not easy to fix, or your lcd does have a minor crack which may not affect the glass cover (which is a separate piece).

boot up in safe mode F8 or F5 when booted up in safe mode check video settings set to 800 *600 reboot should a least start and give you chance to set properly
