My desktop is stuck in some wierd loop. It says that windows was shut down unepectedly and then counts down before attempting to restart. it does this over and over. tries to reboot but won't
Desktop still goes through the restart process. Tapped the F8 key to reboot in safe mode and still the same thing occurs. It is still counting down til reboot begins again. Its like a merry-go-round. It keeps telling me windows was shut down unexpectedly. Counts down to reboot, atempts the reboot then loops again to the same screen. I'm pulling my hair out trying to fix this thing!Desktop still goes through the restart process. Tapped the F8 key to reboot in safe mode and still the same thing occurs. Okay provided the USB U created is bootable insert it first then restart and press the escape button. U should then come to a boot option screen if there is a + sign next to the hard drive option. expand it and choose the USB hard drive to boot from it ur files should start to load.
2 choice - reinstall windows over the old one. this will require correct drivers & reinstall of all software. To avoid loss of documents - don't format & don't use same users names as last install or put in new hard drive and make old hard drive as secondary.
both choices you need to get into the bios to change the boot order so cd boot first to get into the windows cd if it is'nt set yet
Yes! it does sound like the hard drive is bad, remove hardware to see if you can enter bios and boot device, if yes the hard drive needs to be replaced, if no change there is a secondary problem.
Hi, If you are sure that it's not overheating, then it could be the hard drive. A boot up loop is an indication that the boot up sector on the hard drive is corrupt and broken. The hard drive tries to find this boot sector to boot up your computer but it can't. It keeps trying to find it again and again and again and keeps looping. Hank
