Hard drive won't reboot. Stuck in a loop.

My desktop is stuck in some wierd loop. It says that windows was shut down unepectedly and then counts down before attempting to restart. it does this over and over. tries to reboot but won't

Desktop still goes through the restart process. Tapped the F8 key to reboot in safe mode and still the same thing occurs. It is still counting down til reboot begins again. Its like a merry-go-round. It keeps telling me windows was shut down unexpectedly. Counts down to reboot, atempts the reboot then loops again to the same screen. I'm pulling my hair out trying to fix this thing!

tap the f8 key as you are booting up and try to reboot into safe mode... see if that works

We have an HP Compaq DC5100 which is just for old XP games which won't work on our swanky laptops and as a Minecraft server. A windows update came through and restarted the PC without any prompting and...

no easy way :(
1 choice -
http://www.icompute.info/System_restore_from_xp_cd.htm
try to do system restore from repair console

2 choice -
reinstall windows over the old one.
this will require correct drivers & reinstall of all software. To avoid loss of documents - don't format & don't use same users names as last install or put in new hard drive and make old hard drive as secondary.

both choices you need to get into the bios to change the boot order so cd boot first to get into the windows cd if it is'nt set yet

Acer 5733z-4633 is stuck in a sort of boot loop. Won't enter bois setup or boot device options screen. Is this a hard drive issue?(it kinda makes a funny clicking noise then starts all over to try

Yes! it does sound like the hard drive is bad, remove hardware to see if you can enter bios and boot device, if yes the hard drive needs to be replaced, if no change there is a secondary problem.

Hp nx6110, stays in a boot-up loop

Hi, If you are sure that it's not overheating, then it could be the hard drive.
A boot up loop is an indication that the boot up sector on the hard drive is corrupt and broken. The hard drive tries to find this boot sector to boot up your computer but it can't. It keeps trying to find it again and again and again and keeps looping. Hank
