Try pushing the up arrow on the control wheel if you hear no sound during playback of a movie from the G12. The up/down arrows control audio volume during playback.

Stuck shutter

It doesn't sound like a shutter problem, especially since the G12 doesn't actually have a mechanical shutter. It sounds as though there is either an exposure setting issue when the camera is in Manual mode or one of the other settings that will allow you to take a photo no matter the conditions. If it does the same thing when in full automatic there could be issues with flash or flash compensation or an internal issue. When it happens again, check to see that the camera has not accidently slipped into another mode.

Why my canon G12 present black display or horizontal lines overexposed?

It's common on the G12. This is the place fixing these: www.CamerasAndParts.com They have a specific service package for this $89, parts and labor come included, plus they do the internal fix so it doesn't keep occurring on the camera. They are the best place for help with the Canon Powershots. Best of luck with it.

Can't transfer images from G12 to computer

Does the camera have internal storage or does it require a memory card? I don't see any specifications for internal storage. If you are using a memory card then try taking the card out and inserting into the appropriate memory card slot on the computer. </br>
It seems that the camera uses standard USB to connect to the computer, however, the documentation implies that you need to install the accompanying software from the cd to view and transfer your pictures and movies using this method.

This is a wise move considering the cost to repair them tend to be high, and warranty can be a life saver in this case. The problem you are describing appears to to be in the lens housing where the sensor is located, the pug on the sensor board has been known to work itself loose causing all kinds of symptoms.

The digital zoom setting is only available when the aspect ratio is set to 4:3. The setting is accessible by pressing the 'func.set' button in shooting mode.
