Cordless phone Uniden cordless phone model # 12960. Accidentally hit one of the buttons and it changed my dial tone to rotary dial from pulse. Neither can I dial out. How do I swtch it back to pulse tone dialing? Just a simple old style phone but still don't know what I hit??? Thanks Mike Pryer [email protected]

On that model you need to press and hold the FLASH button, after it beeps it will be in tone mode and not pulse.

The phone is pre-set for touch-tone use. To set to tone or pulse dialing:
1. Press and hold the Program button until you hear a beep.
2. Press the *tone button to select Tone Dialing or press #pause to select Pulse Dialing.
3. Press the Program button again. You will hear a confirmation tone.

Here's what the manual says: Changing the Dial Mode (Tone or Pulse Dialing) (HS1 only) Your phone can communicate with the telephone network in two different ways: tone dialing or pulse dialing. These days, most phone networks use a method called tone dialing, so your phone comes programmed for tone dialing. If your phone company uses pulse dialing, you need to change your phone's dial mode. If you don't get a dial tone or can't connect to the telephone network, follow the steps below to modify your phone?s settings: With the phone in standby, press and hold [cid/menu]. Press [vol/ / ] to move the pointer to select DIAL. Press [select/channel] to set the phone to pulse dialing. Press [end]. Return the handset to the base. The handset communicates the new setting to the base, and the base activates the setting on any other handsets. Hope this helps out. K

This question is very Generic!

There are alot of 5.8 GHz phones by Uniden, and each is different.
Try this to fix your issue:

Press [menu/clear]. Select the GLOBAL SETUP menu, and then the
DIAL MODE submenu.
Scroll [ ] to select TONE.
Press [select/ ]. You will hear a confirmation tone.

If this does not help, try this link, look for your set, and on the right side near the middle of the screen there is a link for Owners Manual English PFD, open it and search for PULSE.

From the Handset Setup Menu:
1. Press the caller ID-volume ( 5 or 6) button to scroll to the TONE PULSE sub-menu.
2. Press mute/program button to enter the menu. TONE/PULSE 41TONE 2PULSE shows in the display. The default setting is “1 TONE”.
3. Use the touch-tone pad or caller ID-volume ( 5 or 6) to enter 1 TONE or 2 PULSE.
4. Press the mute/program button to confirm. You will hear a confirmation tone and your selection shows in the display.

I have a similar Panasonic phone (KX_TGA101S).  Someone must have inadvertently changed the dial mode on you.  Here is how you change it on mine, which should be similar to yours.  Hit the Menu button.  Scroll down to "Set tel line" and hit the Menu Button (OK). If it isn't displayed, scroll to "Set Dial Mode" and hit the Menu Button. Select Tone instead of Pulse and hit the Menu Button.  That should do it.

TONE/PULSE DIALING This adjustment allows you to select tone (touch-tone) or pulse (rotary) mode dialing. The phone is pre-set for touch-tone use. To set to tone or pulse dialing: 1. Press and hold the program button for two seconds. You will hear a beep. 2. Press the *tone button to select Tone Dialing or press #pause to select Pulse Dialing. 3. Press the program button again.
