Problem with my ripped music

If your ripping software does not automatically pull the song titles from the Internet, you must type the entries in yourself. This does not happen automatically.

MP3 players can only play music files in mp3 file format.1st - You need to convert your CDs to mp3 music filesonto your computer or download them from the Internet and then copy them toyour MP3 player.
You can do this using Windows Media player and Rip the CDs - Media Player willcreate a MP3 music file for each music track.
There are also Freeware CD RIP programs on the Internet that add the musictitle and album title to the mp3 file automatically.

2nd - connect your MP3 player to your computer using the supplied USB cable.The computer will see this player as an external storage device, Just copy theMP3 music files from the computer's hard disk to the MP3 player.I suggest you create a album/title folder for each CD soyou can place the mp3 music files by that artist into that folder. Then copythese folders to your MP3 player and you will be able to select and play yourMP3 music by selecting the album you wish to play.

You can't copy Audio CD's to a hard drive. The .cda format is meant for only CD's. You have to rip them to some other format for a hard drive to recognize (such as .wma or .mp3).

How to rip an Audio CD using Windows Media Player

QUICK RIP
You can do a quick rip if the "AutoPlay" menu comes out when you insert a disk in your computer's DVD/CD drive.

One of the options under AutoPlay is to "Rip Music From CD (using Windows Media Player)" which will automatically launch Windows Media Player and the Rip menu. Make sure you uncheck the "Always do this for Audio CDs" box so your computer doesn't automatically launch the Rip menu every time you insert a CD (i.e. in case you just want to listen to a CD next time).

Start the ripping process by clicking on the "Start Rip" button (e.g. in Windows Media Player 11, for example, it's on the lower right once you're in the Rip menu). You'll also have an option to use your Internet connection and have Windows Media Player automatically find details about the CD you're using so you don't have to fill out album and song details yourself (for this tutorial, let's assume that you're not connected to the Internet, which means you'll end up with an unknown album with unknown songs). You'll know the ripping process is done once all the songs show "Ripped to library" under "Rip status."

By default, Windows Media Player will rip your tunes in WMA format and save it in your "Music" folder. You can access the folder by clicking on the Windows logo at the bottom left of your computer's screen. For Windows XP, for example, it'll be the "Start" button. For Windows Vista or Windows 7, it's the circular icon with the Windows four-panel graphic that looks like a waving flag.
Clicking the "Start" button in Windows XP will bring up a menu box with "My Music" as one of the options. For Vista, clicking on the Windows button will bring up a menu with "Music" as one of your options. Anyway, clicking on either of those choices will open your music folder. Look under Unknown Artist and you should be able to find the Unknown Album you just ripped. Once you find the songs, you can rename them one by one.
To do a normal rip, let's go to the next step.


NORMAL RIP
For more options, like changing your ripped music's format to MP3 or changing the folder where you save your music, you can do a normal rip.

Start by launching Windows Media Player yourself via the "Programs" option by clicking on either the "Start Menu" tab in Windows XP or the Windows logo in Vista or Windows 7 (both at the lower left of your screen). Insert your music CD. (To simplify things, just cancel and close down the "Autoplay" menu in case it shows up.)

Once you're in the Rip menu, click on the Rip tab to bring up a list of options. "Format" lets you pick between Windows Media Audio formats, WAV, and the more popular MP3 format. The WMA and WAV both have "lossless" format options, which means the music will be ripped with no loss in quality. The MP3 format, meanwhile, offers wider compatibility with portable music players and smaller file sizes but sacrifices a certain amount of quality depending on the bit rate of your file. This brings us to the "Bit Rate" button, which basically lets you pick the quality of the rip. The default for bit rate is 128 Kbps. Note that the higher the bit rate you pick, the better the quality you'll get, but you'll also get a larger file size.

There are 3 possible ways in getting the album art for your music album.

1. Album art may be obtained from the online Music CD database that Windows Media Player uses.
   Note: Not all music albums have album art available in the online CD database.
2. From the online music store where you purchased your songs or albums, the album art may be downloaded along with your purchase.
3. You may also create your own album art by transferring your favorite jpg photo into the selected album folder and rename it to Album Art.jpg.

To download album art from the online database and transfer to the player.

1. Make sure that your computer is connected to the Internet.
2. Launch Windows Media Player.
3. Go to Tools> Options> Player.
4. Make sure the "Enable picture support for devices" check box is selected.
5. Click the Apply, then the OK buttons.
6. Select the "RIP" tab on the task menu bar.
7. Insert your music CD into the CD drive of your computer. The Windows Media Player will take a few seconds to show the content of the CD on the display.
8. Click "Find Album Info". The Player accesses the database hosted by WindowsMedia.com and displays information about the album in the Album Information pane. The album art will be shown if available.(Note: For some music CD, album art may not be found in any of the online database.)
9. Click Finish to update all the information about your album and show it in the Rip pane.
10. Connect your Device to the computer.
11. Select the tracks that you would like to rip by clicking in the check b ox next to the track.
12. Click the Rip music button to start ripping the music CD.
13. Once the tracks are finished being ripped to the library, go to the Media library and select the songs that you have just ripped.
14. Add them to the sync list and transfer them into your Device. The album art will be transferred along with those selected songs.
15. Disconnect the Device from your computer.
16. Make sure that the option in your Device has been selected to display the album art on the device, at Settings-> Album art.

To create your own album art and transfer it to the Device

1. In Windows Media Player , right click on the song you want to update the album art of.
2. Select "Advanced Tag Editor" option.
3. In the screen that pops up , select the "Pictures" tab.
4. Use the drop down list to make sure that the type of picture you add is the Cover (front).
5. Click on "Add" to associate a picture as the Album art for the song and all the songs in that album.
6. Add this (and other songs from the same album) to the sync list and transfer them into your Device. The album art will be transferred along with those selected songs.
7. Disconnect the Device from your computer.
8. Make sure that the option in your Device has been selected to display the album art on the device, at Settings-> Album art.

The best way is to use Cd's you already have or buy. Use windows Media Plyer It is the easiest way to learn. To use Media Player, Start the program and looking at the top of the program, if the classic menu's are not showing - right click out next to the heading, "Media Player", -> chose view -> then -> click on Classic Menus. This will show the menus that are easier to access. Now go to -> Tools -> Options And here, click on the Rip Music tab. This is where you set up media player to rip music down to a MP3 and where to put it when done. So on this tab you will see Rip music to this location, Click the pull down menu and pick a folder you can find easy -(go to My Computer, or the Start Menu Button, and right click and chose -> Explore -> you will see on the left side of the screen, the folder tree, click on the ( C: ) at the top and open up the tree, then right click the( C: ) move to the menu at the top and chose -> New -> then Folder - then name your folder " AAA " it will always be at the top of the tree - easy to find), Tell media player to put your MP3's here, then move down on the RIP MUSIC Tab to the FORMAT section and pull down menu and chose MP3 => chose to rip when CD is inserted. click OK and close the Tools Menu, Close the Program. Now hook up your player, go to My computer right click on the START menu, look at the folder tree and scroll down to the bottom and see if your player is there, if you see your player all is well. If you do not see it do not worry we will fix that later. Next insert a CD into the drive and when a window pops up asking what to do chose to RIP WITH MEDIA PLAYER. Once Media Player has finished riping the CD, Go to your folder and Copy the MP3's into your player's Music folder - one at the time or as a group. Now you should be able to un-hook your player and enjoy your new music. Now if you want to download MP3's from Wal-mart or iTunes you need to change the mode of your player. To do this you're going to have to re-copy all of the music you want album art for to your G1! Sorry! But here goes...
Firstly, the reason the album art isn't there is because it wasn't bought online, therefore the album art may not be encoded onto the songs. However it's not that hard to encode art yourself on Windows Media Player.
You have to look for the album art online, and save it on your computer. Then, find the songs you want on Windows Media Player (if they are from the same album then ctrl+click them all) then right click. On the right-click menu there should be an option called Advanced Tag Editor. Click that, then the Pictures Tab, and click Add. Then find your album art and select Cover (Front) from the Picture Type drop down menu. Hopefully that will encode your songs with the album art, then you can sync them with WMP or copy and paste them as normal.

I assume this is in a PC? Simply right click each title whilst in the PC and click on 'Rename' Or click file/save as/and give the file a name This incidently will leave an un-named copy on the computer
