The control panel on front will beep when you press buttons but don't move. Only the freezer lights are lit up. Freezer and fridge don't stay cool/freeze. When we unplug it and plug it back in, everything works as normal for a few hours and then the same things happens over again. Please help.
When half of the display goes out, it is giving you an error code telling you what is wrong with the fridge.Unplugging it simply resets the computer until the error comes back typically within a few hours.
without knowing what is lit up, it is difficult to help you so I would recommend putting the error code "which bars are lit up" in a comment so we can diagnose further

If the touch control doesn't respond then it's most likely bad. They don't normally act up, they either work or they don't.

Behind the back panel of the freezer section is the evaperator assembly. on the rh side of the evaperator is a sensor pack that is for the defrost cycle. there is a thermo fuse inside of this pack that is open. The fridge goes into an error state if this fuse is open. unplugging the fridge resets the system. the sensor pack will have to be replaced.

anan, I think your display is giving you a code on these LG. See if you can find the tech sheet behind the toe panel. On your display panel from memory, 3 led's lit from the left means a failed defrost thermistor. This could be the reason you are frosting up and restricting the air flow. There is a main board in back that you can ohm out the thermistors. Connector 4, the two bright orange wires #5 and 6, should ohm at 19K ohms at 50 degrees. Now Im doing this from memory, if you can find your tech sheet, it will give you precise information. Catriver.

The service manual gives the following explanation of your error code (Er FF): "Poor motor, hooking of wires to fan. Contact of structures to Fan. Snapping or short-circuit of L/wire (if there is no fan motor signal for more than 60 seconds in operation of fan motor)" So CoolTech is right!
