Usually, when it's waiting to get a valid GPS signal, it is "listening" (scanning) for satellite signals to establish your current location. If you are in the open outdoors, i.e. not inside a building or under extended covers, it should get the satellite signals within a minute or so.
Did you make a reset? that could be a trouble with the signal then like the mobile sometimes by retreiving the battery if you have it during a minute and put it on again my brings the solution (pragmatic).
TomTom had issues with the software on several versions of their GPS units. According to their website, it should take no longer than 5 minutes for your unit to acquire a signal. If it it taking longer than this, they recommend 3 possible solutions: 1. Reset your device http://www.tomtom.com/7134
2. Install the latest application http://www.tomtom.com/6218
3.Install QuickGPSfix http://www.tomtom.com/4971
I hope the links help get your GPS working ASAP. Good luck!
The GPS needs at least 3 satellite signals to operate. You are probably in a bad reception area. Move around a bit and try again until you see a signal array of 3 or more!
u need to up date gps if that dose'nt work sounds like it needs to be repaired i had same problem and found its better to buy new on then pay 275.00 to repair due the math
on the bottom right hand side press the bars, next screen press the middle right hand sideellow the bars , then top right hand side is the orange and black disc spinning? yes then your unit is looking for a signal , if no then ask tom tom website for instructions,
I had this problem (waiting for a valid GPS signal). I did a factory reset and the unit started working
again (yes, I lost all my settings, but what good is a GPS unit that
just sits there waiting for a valid GPS signal?). To do a factory
reset, go to menu -> change preferences -> Reset factory
settings.
