Iwould check and see if the is lighting when the ignitor glows. the oven should light after 30-45 seconds after the ignitor glows. if you have a clamp on amp meter you could make sure it has 3.0 to 3.3 amps. set the temp, wait to see the gow of the ignitor, time how long it takes for the gas to come on, if it takes a minute or two the ignitor is weak and should be replaced. if it comes on at about a minute, wait for it to get to temp and shut off, when it cycles the oven may not light when the glow bar comes on, this is also an ignitor problem. iv'e replaced many more ignitors than sensors, and sensors are more$$$. if you question the sensor, find a friend with an ohm meter and ohm out the sensor, it should read 1080 ohms at room temp (70).

Hi. this is a failing oven temp sensor. the sensor probe is not responding to the oven control. this will cause erratic temps in this oven. it will also damage the control board if the sensor isn't replaced soon.

Temp change during cooking zanussi ZOP37922

Both gas and electric ovens will cycle on and off throughout the cooking cycle to maintain the set temperature. When the oven temperature has dropped below the set temperature, the oven cycles on again to provide heat and will cycle off again once the temperature is higher than the set temperature.

Problem with GE JKP45WOP1WG double oven

The control is faulty. Check the resistance of the sensor before replacing the control, it should be 1100 ohms at room temp. If it is not start with the sensor and if it is replace the control.

My oven is not heating up properly, it either doesn't heat up or it takes a very long time to heat up. The range top works fine and the broiler works, but when i set it to bake it doesn't or takes long.

There are two possibilities for problems with the range. If it has a "timed bake" setting for the oven then it's possible that the last person who used it neglected to return the setting to the manual mode. In "timed bake" mode, the oven will heat to approx. 160 - 185 degrees, what is called a "keep warm" temp. It will maintain that heat setting regardless of what you set the oven temp control to, as long as you're not in the time frame that it's set to bake. This will make trying to bake anything a very difficult procedure.
The second possibility is that the oven glo coil igniter is cracked and will not heat to the proper temp to allow the electricity to flow through it to the oven gas safety valve to allow it to open and let the gas flow to the burner. These things are ceramic and for some reason crack in normal use. If it has a top broiler, that unit is obviously good. Unfortunately, the igniters are seldom interchangeable. You would need a tech to check the igniter with an ohmmeter.

I have a frigidaire stove that heats to 50 degrees hotter than the know setting. Can it be adjusted to read correctly?

There is a calibration method to adjust the oven thermostat plus/minus 35 degrees if it is a digital display. The method varies depending on the model range. This calibration method is used to adjust the thermostat if it is not keeping proper tempature. For example if you are setting the oven to 350 and the actual temp it is keeping is 325 then you could use the calibration method to adjust it plus 25 degrees to correct the temp. Just so you know electric ovens will keep a pretty even temp but gas ovens will vary by 40 or more degrees to keep an "average" temp. For example the burner will come on when the oven is 330 degrees and turn off at 370. 330+370 then divide by 2=350. So a oven thermometer may not show you the temp you set it at in a gas oven but does not mean the oven temp is off.

Whirlpool Accubake Super Capacity 465 gas range. Oven won't light

Some gas ranges may take 10 or so minutes to light.
Other than that you may have a defective glow bar ignitor.
If it glows and does not light the reistance in the ignitior has failed.

Maytag gas oven cycles every 20 seconds

yes it is normal . but i know your not the first to think its not , todays ovens are so tight , it only takes 10 seconds of heat to keep them at proper temp . it used to be that ovens where kept at a 3 degree sweep that is set at 350 turn on and up to 353 then off ,cool down to 350 and back on . this was a longer time off and a longer time on topday we keep to 1 degree ! 350 on to 351 off to 350 on and so on ....... so short berst of heat make for a more even oven ........ but i know i hate it too ! good luck
