SOURCE: How do you delete a thread of text messages on the

To delete a thread of messages, do the following:

-go into the messaging app and click into the thread you want deleted
-hit the menu button
-hit delete
-you will get pop up box that says "The entire thread will be deleted"
-hit OK.

If you want to delete individual messages, you will need to long-hold down on the message you want deleted, and then hit "Delete message" from the command list.

Good luck.

SOURCE: my HTC hero will not

My Hero used to take ages to delete messages and often used to freeze when it was doing it. However now my phone is running 2.1 update it deletes perfectly fine. Check if your phone is on 2.1 update, go to settings, about phone, software informations and it is the firmware version your looking at. If your phone is running lower then 2.1 update then go to settings, system software updates and press check now. If it says there is an update available then download it. Overwise you will have to download an app. The app i suggest is called 1-click cleaner, it allows you to quickly delete all the messages on your phone from the app. Hope this is of help to you.
