SOURCE: screen is broken....where to find new one and the part number
My suggestion is not to bother trying to repair a set with a broken screen. Most of the cost of the set is in the display panel, and finding a replacement is nearly impossible unless you are a warranty servicer for the company. There are sites such as shopjimmy.com that sell parts from sets, but most LCD TVs wind up as parts because of broken displays.
There's also the problem that the same model of set can use different displays depending on when and where it was made. Even if you found a replacement panel, you might find that other electronics in the set might not be compatible. You need to get exactly the same panel used in the set you want to fix.
The best thing to do if you really want to try finding the LCD panel would be search around the internet, check ebay, check your local craigslist listings or newspaper. You would probably have more success at lower cost in the long run by simply replacing the set. Something is always on sale, and good prices are available from online retailers.
