Streaky lines Hi, when I view the screen prior to taking a picture there appears to be faint pink streaks running horizontally down the screen, when I take the picture and view it they are still on the screen. Is this a setting problem or is the software inside knackered?? The camera is less than 3 months old!

This is a defective CCD problem and will be repaired free of charge by Nikon even if the camera is out of it's original warranty. Check the link at this site: http://www.imaging-resource.com/badccds.html

SOURCE: Discolered, blurry images in viewfinder and LCD

Nikon has posted a Service Advisory for this problem and will fix CCD-only related problems by replacing the CCD, free of charge. It applies to the 5700 and a few other models only. I'm not sure if this applies outside of the US. Link below. http://www.nikonusa.com/email_images/nikonusa/service_advisory/coolpix.html

SOURCE: Picture screen distorted.

Your LCD screen has been cracked, it will have to be replaced. The screen is actually made of thin glass, so what you are seeing is actually just like a cracked or broken mirror or window. This kind of damage is not covered by manufacturers warranty so I would suggest finding a repair facility online to service your camera if you wish to get it replaced. The replacement LCD should be somewhere from $60 to $80 and somewhere around $50 in labor. The problem with communicating with your computer is unrelated to the screen issue. Try again, and make sure everything is set up right. It is likely that function still works fine. :) David Millier Advance Camera Repair

hi,

check if the line appears in BIOS...dont worry when i say BIOS...not sure how to check...turn the system off...restart the system and keep tapping the F2 key...you would get a Blue screen...check if the lines appear on this screen...if it appears...it could either be b'cause the display driver has gone wrong or the system might have a physical damage.....if the lines does not occur on this screen....it is a manufacturing defect...please contact the manufacturer and report the issue for solution.......

Lines appear on photo's.

Hey Tia Cindy,
If the lines are vertical that is often a result of taking pictures of very bright subjects. This is aberration is called vertical streaking. If the lines are horizontal lines there is probably something wrong with your sensor and you should have the camera looked at by an authorized service technician such as bringing it to a Geek Squad® precinct in a Best Buy™ store, and they will send it out to have it looked at. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan
